Has your member of parlimant visited your house? this morning MP for West Coast, Mr S. Iswaran just visited my house. Finally got my chance to complain about the leaking cast iron pipe in the kitchen

Embedded pipes are usually metal lah....PVC is too weak to be embedded (and Sch80 PVC is not cheap too!).
Pipe runs in the open can be PVC (depending on condition). But they usually use the cheap Sch40 (white) type. -
i think the new flats are all using PVC. not the old ones.
the rivets, the pipes..dont know what is next.
