hey guys... i just wanna know why do people always go for appearance of an item rather then the quality? -

i mean that for example a bag..why people always look at the design first rather than quality..

eg, a green coloured milk can still be of good eatin quality, but to the consumer, they wont eat it because of the appearance...so what will u go for? appearance or quality?

a product needs a good appearance to attract would-be buyers.
quality will then add value to the product.
who wants a quality handbag that looks like s h i t?

yupz..but from what i observe more and more people are going for design now...but nice design don't always come with good quality or rather no quality at all..

Actually, u need to be more specific. Wat kinda gds r u tokking abt? I look for design AND qlty, & I dun mind paying more for the qlty.

The same thing happens in terms of employment. but in this instance advertising and marketing might have made the difference. Apple afterall are more popular among the americans.

I guess different age group go for different requirements? But I have to say appearance definitely plays an important for all ages.. When we go shopping, we would definitely get attracted by something, due to appearance, like bags, shirts and such.. Then quality comes next.. Its just how important the quality is that varies according to age groups I guess..
For most youngsters, appearance is very much important, cos they want to look good.. Quality can come later... Thats why the first thing in mind is always appearance. As for people for the older age groups, especially most housewives, quality is very important.. So that things can last and such.. They think more on the cost aspect.. -

hmm.. Perhaps those people who have passed the teenage years can explain too? What I have noticed and gone through is that, during teenage years, we always care a lot a lot about appearance.. As for the cost of the thing, have read before that business use this mindset of cost of the thing is quite equivalent to status in people.. LV bag for example.. The cost of it is high and naturally people will bring up the status.. So when u get a real LV bag, many people will have the impression of you being rich or a higher status.. Of course there are people who think otherwise.. hmm.. A simple question for you maybe.. Two adult men, one wearing a Rolex watch, one wearing a simple casio watch.. What's ur impression of both men?

hmm.. good point.. but hehe.. i don't really look into other people's status through appearance.. but i do agree that branded stuffs do increase a person's status.. okie how about a bag, new bag not in singapore yet.. has a brand that no body has heard of and is made in japan.. and the selling price in singapore is more then $80..the quality is extremely good, but the design is plain.. will you still buy it or should i say even take a look at it?

If you ask me, I would say there are different kinds of people.. Some focus on design.. They will buy even though it is not branded as long as they like the design.. Some focus on the brand.. They will buy that brand of bag even though the bag might not suit him or her.. Some look at the quality of the bag.. How "detailed" a shopper are you? For a new brand to compete with other established brands, one difficult thing to do is to attract the attention of people.. Ultimately, whether such brand would succeed or not depends on its advertising in any form on its strength(which is the quality) to get into people, especially when u said that its not a known brand and the design does not really stand out.. -
it is a good point that you have pointed out.. but do you agree that human mindset is ever changing? because of wanting a fake apearance, they do everything just to get a branded item up on her arms.. isn't that absurd? i mean, why put on a fake appearance if you aren't of that status? do you agree with me?
