Ever been approached by Deaf people selling Bear Dolls? Cost per bear doll is $10... they just show you a card & ask you to buy....
many of these are going around... Even a normal people can sell like this. Don't even have to speak a single word.
Another Experiance: Dress in Monk style. Bota of course. Speaks good Chinese. His approach style usually in hawker center, just hand out a golden buddha card. Then ask for donations. If you say don't want, he took back the card. If you say you want, then he will sit down open his text book. He then ask how much you want to donate? Minimum $10 till ~ unlimited.... Then after money is handed over, he still took back that golden buddha card. Thank you then approach the next one.
Also Monks passing colored strings asking for donations on the street. Beware.
For the above, Buddhist Society already cliam that no monks are allowed to beg or go around for donations in Singapore. This is out right cheating & tarnishing Buddhism. Monks are allow to collect donations in Temple or at their Society's place. No going around asking. Bear in mind all nesscary things are all provided for monks by Buddhist Society.
Beware of your good intension may turn into bad karma. Example, if you are un-aware donated some $... what if this $ went to create "Bomb" to harm people? Terrorist? Much less worst are the beggar are much richer then the donator. You willing? -

there's this middle age woman came knocking our door and neighbour's and ask for some money or food for her son to eat...i gave her some cash but she just took the neighbour's breads and returned the money to me...then she left. -

Any person being a habitual begger foud begging in a public place shall be guilty of an offence.
4(2) 'habitual begger' means a person who at least on 2 previous occasions was found begging in public place.
