there's no point in being human if tis is trueOriginally posted by Ayukat:In scientific terms right, feelings are just chemical reactions right? So does that mean in future, if we want someone to love us, we just buy some medicine to tweak that our chemical within to react with the other person?![]()
the thing is you are gonna noe dat its drug induced. so you'll definitely feel not right about it and you will choose to reject the effects. i think MAY be possible, but i can imagine how hard it can get..Originally posted by Tuatau:Sounds like some love potion no. 9.
If love can be compelled without a conscious choice from the subject, is it still love?

I dun mean tweak the other person... tweak urself. If u can get a strand of hair of that person, u should be able to anaylse the person's chemical perferrences, so u can tweak urs to suit her/him...Originally posted by Tuatau:Which begs the question: If the subject can choose to take the drug to receive its effects, why would he or she need to take the drug in the first place?
"love" itself is already an ambigous term.. shld i say.. induce the symptoms of love, but not the "romantic" idealogy of love. anyways, for yrself or others, its not guarantee people can face this issue with integrity.Originally posted by Tuatau:Which begs the question: If the subject can choose to take the drug to receive its effects, why would he or she need to take the drug in the first place?
Can love be induced? Can I say I want to love someone, but I need a drug to bring on the love?
than why not tweak the other person to suit your own chemical preferences and make them believe that they truely love you?Originally posted by Ayukat:I dun mean tweak the other person... tweak urself. Or you administer the drug on yourself to change your appearances and behaviour?

i dun think he meant a complete makeover, just so he can understand her mood better. so when she feels upset he will know what to do. rather than taking years of trial and error, might as well put in some drugs?Originally posted by Tuatau:Ah, let's see if I've got this right. If you are thinking about changing yourself to suit the other person, isn't that what a lot of people are already doing now, desperately trying to fit in the ideal description their partners are expecting from them? Is it really worth losing your own identity to gain the love of another?

Does it matter, as long as u get wat u want and she loves u back?Originally posted by Tuatau:Of course, I agree different people would have different definitions of love.
Yes, the biochemical effects of love can be induced, but is only manifested on the body as physical actions like sex. Huxley's "A Brave New World" has touched on a similar subject. Like what you said, there is no "romantic" ideology of love, no spiritual aspect of the relationship as we know it. It's purely the physical manifestations of love that the drug can bring about.
However, that brings us back to my original question: Can such an effect brought about the drug still be considered as love? If we require drugs to bring about and/or sustain the relationship we have with another person, can it still be love, according to your definition of love?
my definition har.. nope. cuz its depandent on an direct external influence, it feels like an arranged marriaged which your families would like to see and would benefit both parties.Originally posted by Tuatau:Of course, I agree different people would have different definitions of love.

Wats the difference? She will still feel she wants to be by ur side.Originally posted by the Bear:the ends does not justify the means...
she is by my side because she wants to be by my side and chose to be... not because she was doped into it...
that would be getting a puppet, a zombie or a doll..
you want a doll?
not me..
dats why we can't say everyone is wrong. everyone have different opinions and places their priorities themselves. wus more important imo is the right for an individual to choose their choices themselves, and not forced by others.Originally posted by the Bear:the ends does not justify the means...
