What is the basic thing to do if you want to get marry ?

  I am wondering those singaporeans who want to get married , what are the things they need to prepare ?
  
  for Example
  - 10k in cash
  - at least 40k in CPF
  - own a car ?
  - age ard 27 to 30 ?
  
  I got another question , hmmmm.. is it the must for the guy to pay for everything ? tough for guys huh?

  Yes, preferably abit of sponsor from family, but make sure you try to pay it back.

  I think S$10k is quite insufficient for getting married, since nowadays many people hold their weddings at hotels. It'll be S$80-120 per table....and you will likely need more than 10 tables (probably closer to 30 at least). And on top of that, there are many many other costs other than the wedding dinner. The good news is that you will recoup a big portion of the dinner costs from guest angpows.
  
  S$40k in CPF is actually not hard to attain, if you've been working for a few years already (and I assume that most people work for quite a few years before getting married). Should be possible for most people in their late 20's.
  
  Car is not necessary for marriage lah....unless you like to use the car sometimes instead of the bed. Actually, it can be quite exciting
  
  Age of late 20's to early 30's would be ideal, but not necessary. The correct age to get married is when you're in love enough to be married.
  
  Who pays for the wedding is decided on a case-to-case basis. Usually, it is shared if both parties are working and/or can afford to contribute. But there are exceptions.

  Very possible. I had $60K in my CPF at 27 yrs old. Started full time work at 18 yrs old.
  
  But when I got my house at 27, they took away $45K for down payment and then nearly all when I got my keys. The balance then take HDB loan.

  based on my experience, when i married my wife, i had..
  
  - around 25k in cash
  - 16k in CPF
  - no car
  - 22 years old
  - i had my ROM and banquet on the same day
  
  no, it is not a must for a guy to pay for everything.

  My Indian friend told me he went to India to get married. His bride came with dowry of gold, cash, a house, land and car. Not bad huh?

  I don't understand why you need so much money. It's enough if you can get a nice ring, and rent a flat. Why must you buy one?

  my colleague's sister simply bought a gown for the ROM & went ahead to get married. they din even throw the wedding dinner or even had a small meal among the parents & themselves. they juz use the money to buy a house & went for their honeymoon.
  
  of coz they got the hell of a scolding from the parents for not throwing the dinner. the parents r still the traditional kind but the bride doesnt care much.
