you can register for CFA at the AIMR (American Institute of Management Research) website.
As for your argument that local accountancy degree is better than that of ACCA. This might not be the case. I have spent 3-4 years as an Auditor in one of the BIG 4 few years ago and in my dept... those with ACCA are treated with higher regards and respect than NTU Accountancy grad.
ACCA grads usually are much better in terms of technical skills and are more humble... -

My past experience: ACCA or U, reali no distinction on who is better or worse. Bottomline still depend on students themselves. I have come across U-grad who can't pass proper journal entries...

Actually, we cannot blame the finance geek as the second reply in this topic by I-Like-Fling clearly provoked the finance geek to give such a defensive answer. But note that having a degree need not necessarily means that you will make a lot of big bucks... and please do not brag about whatever 1st class degree that you might have. I have friends who are studying in Boston, MIT and Wharton who are definitely more brilliant and humble than the typical local university smart alec. I got to point out the fact that even university graduates got to be at my dad's beck and call who is a non-grad himself in the company [my dad is the boss, get it?].
