"Creative" is just a point of view..
Parents play a part in a certain extent in this context, they speak to their children in singlish, and it gets adopted. While I'm not insinuating singlish is bad, it brings down the professionalism level in business contacts. -

If you're talking about the Americans, most of them have this concept that Asians can't speak English (I'm basing this from the gaming community since this is where I touch base with most of them) You can't really blame them because the really hardcore Asian gamers you see around are the Koreans, Japanese, Taiwanese and Hongkongers.
The standard of English for the peeps from Hong Kong is acceptable, but try speaking to the rest and it's a chore! In fact, alot of Sinaporeans blend in real well because no one can tell that we are not Asians, and most are more than surprised to find out that an Asian can actually type in fluent English
However, I am worried about the standard of English in the younger generation (as in people in their teens right now). I know a few teenagers and it is really appalling to find out that they find phrases like "The pot calling the kettle black" difficult to understand. Sometimes, I wonder is the root of the cause due to TV taking over the popularity of reading? -
Ye, I would like to say our standard of English, among Asian countries and those of our skin colour, is relatively good... liao

while we may tend to speak in singlish i feel that in general our english is pretty ok. i wont say its good but its not bad. hmm in terms of business usage means(no idea so asking)?
