get 5 figure salary. read in news paper onces then i feel like taking banking course in poly.
But then i also heared Accountants never get retrench and will sure get job anywhere anytime want!
true or not! -
where got job never get retrenched one...
of course not all banker get 5figure and not all who study banking become bankers... lidat everyone go study le. -

bankers who get 5 figure salaries are normally the top investment bankers. sometimes it can even go up till 6 figures or even 7, if they do hedge funds. but, the main reason why they are paid that amount is that they burn out very very fast. so they get paid a high salary for a short career...worth it? you decide...
oh and as for a job that will always be in demand, try actuary science. actuary scientist are in high deman, so they almost never get retrenched. they only get fired if the screw things up real bad... -

it's a lot of stress leh..5 figures yes, finance manager maybe also..but then the stress is tremendous. one wrong step can get fingers burnt.
every business needs an accountant, that's true la..my fren is half an owner of an accounting firm, doing very well also. -
Investment bankers get paid top dollars.As an accountancy undergrad myself,it's true that getting a job is easy.
About more than half of every graduating batch gets absorbed into the big 4.Starting pay is low but once you get the CPA and CA sorted out,you could be staring at 5 figures 6-7 years down the road and top top dollars when you become a partner.
But I'm not taking that route.I 'll get my CFA sorted out once i graduate and hope to become a top investment banker in one of the big multinational banks.
No point studying banking in poly.Diploma holder won't become investment bankers.You need a degree minimum.
My advise is go into some engineering course.Pusue it into uni but do your CFA upon graduating.A lot of banks hire engin grads these days because of strong maths backround. -
if you really are looking for jobs that will continually be in demand, try these...no guarantee of a high pay...bu hey...least you're in demand

the best is still doctor and lawyer.
however the economy restructure or technology advance they wont run out of job. -
As more and more buildings get erected everyday in the world, There is a growing demand for Facilities managers. I suggest you take that course in SP.

accountancy is damn boring when u do it... believe me... i am doing it.. its interesting when studying but damn boring and very routine when u do it in real life

Accountants hardly get retrenched. They usually resign.
cos the job requires long hours, and is very boring (facing numbers all day). If you can tahan for more than 5 years in the big 4 accounting firms, then you should be quite well paid..
as for wat course you should take, I always believe that ppl should choose what they think they can do well in, or what they like. Cos you can't predict the job market when you graduate in 3 years time. For example, some ppl choose Bio-Med now cos govt is promoting it, but who knows if Biomed coys may move to india in 3 yrs.
If you think accounting is good for you, then u should go further and try to get a degree for it. -
aiya i think basically u must go 4 wat u like/interested in mah..
my roomie studying financial engineering, see him reading the dunno wat financial engineering book with a lot of formulas i freak out liao! he also like damn tu lan lydat leh..
oh btw, he aspire to be banker.
but luckily he's very keen on the subject, so somehow still can motivate himself to study those subject which i think quite boring if u study the details.
so i think importantly: go 4 wat u like, n hv gd friends around u that can motivate u!
u want to earn a lot doesn't mean u hv to be a banker mahh...
btw, i read somewhere tt top earning sales job in singapore are (in sequence):
1. Oil trader (they earn freaking a lot of $$$)
2. Real Estate Agent (really leh, i saw it w my own eyes! but must work v hard, i mean really really hard)
3. * I can't remember * but i think it's a car agent
4. * I also can't remember *
5. Insurance Agent (i think those tt sell nt only insurance, but also other financial products)
I also think tt bankers (private banker, investment banker) also somewhere ard there but i dunno it's number 3 or 4 i also can't remember.
Anyway, not all tt u heard are bed of roses la
I know of a fren who's doing karang guni job n earning 20k-30k a mth with his 2 lorries
