The people do not even maintain eye contact with you, hardly any thank you/smiles/have a nice day and if you are a kid they would "bully" you sometimes..and sometimes bluntly answer your question like they give a mothertoot danm
The best service here is probably mediocre service in some other countries
even the worst service i had overseas had a thank you and have a pleasant day.
finding good service in Singapore is like finding a needle in a haystack or haysack whatever
no need always right la.. but at least be nice.Originally posted by chronicles:but they should still tolerate and give the customer the benefit of the doubt sometimes

on the other hand, have u considered the number of outright customers that these pple have to handle everyday? if consumers are unhappy with the customer svc, they can lodge complaints.... but if the consumers are rude, there is no avenue for these members of the svc sector to release their frustration... no doubt they are there to provide a svc, but that doesnt mean customer is always rite, and they have to be at ur beck-n-call...Originally posted by chronicles:but they should still tolerate and give the customer the benefit of the doubt sometimes

i ever work in a Jap company b4, on the first day of the training they say was "THE CUSTOMER IS OUR BOSS"Originally posted by dragg:ever wonder why japan can provide very tip-top service?
it is because of their mindset. to them even colleagues are their customers. so they make it an obligation to do their job well, as a 'service' rendered to their colleagues.
since they give tip-top 'service' (work) they expect as much in return. so everywhere they go in japan they expect and receives good service.
we, singaporeans, have a problem. we always equate salesman, customer service, front line people as 'service job'. we only criticise, hardly or never praise 'service' people. so much so nobody wants the job. and worst still, service jobs pay pittance and have odd working hours.
ask yourself how often you see a singaporean appreciating good service? look at how japanese customers behave. they appear as polite as the person serving, sometimes it is difficult to tell who is the customer. it is exactly because of such appreciation that 'service' people continue to serve well or even better.

dont compare the best service VS us(sg).Originally posted by diggo:Staying in Japan now....
U r right... the service in Japan is tip top. No comparison. I am so not use to it nowadays when I get back to SGP... the service is non existence. Most of the time it seems that the shop is doing me a favour by selling to me.
