How does PRC who cant talk proper english......

get into local uni and poly why is it that PRC students some can't even utter a proper sentence in Engrish and they can be allowed to come to our world class tertiary institutions?
Notice that to some of them when u talk in english tend to be blur and communicate in their native lang....
so far there are a number of reports in the newspaper about PRC using fake certs to come here to work as FTs. The recent one was a this PRC teacher who has a fake degree......
Sigh. I am afraid to think that what happens if all those PRCs who are on scholarships in NTU/NUS/SMU and the polys are also using fake certs. Seriously, I mean what are the selection criteria? Are those PRC scholars accessed here or there? How do we know they are good if we don't access them here using our own test papers? If local student do badly in English, they cannot go to Uni due to the natural process of being wiped out by the limit set for number of local students, then why is it that PRC students some can't even utter a proper sentence in Engrish
Not trying to flame the PRC but just that we should exercise more caution with dishonest foreigners as they can rob a potential diligent student of his place in a uni or poly...Good old singaporeans are honest and hardworking.clarify me if some of my points are wrong.... -

What this means is that you do not need to have perfect english to do well in university. It also means that not all graduates have high standards of literacy. -

why dont you ask them?.. if i speak singlish does that mean i suck in english? ever heard of "when in rome, do as romans do?" possibly because they were with stupid people and had to lower their standards of english for the people that are lousy in english to understand.. i wont be surprised if u were there

oh ya... my ex bf is from prc, he failed his eng at o levels.. he got As n distinctions @ polytechnic.. n B/C for his communication modules...
n his spoken eng is close to terrible...
any comments?

Our kids have already lost much of their childhood no thanks to the PRC invasion of local schools. Don't let them lose the last vestiges of childhood.
