i'm proud that..mm..m. actually, I dont even live in Singapore

I am proud to be singaporean.....because there is KFC, Macdonald , pizza hut, Swensen....YUM YUM..Delicious food...Where else loyal managers to stop patrons when leaving without paying.So loyal....
And go to hospital doctors so caring.....I am really proud....
Go to 7-11, the staff there know so much about prices of goods
call up HP subscriber serviceline and they talk so politely....
Where else can u find such good customer service?
Where else can pay so much for a normal small car and boast to girls that u paid so much with COE and so u have lot of money....realli proud

I am proud of my country's achievement but I am not proud of it's citizens who are always complaining about how bad their lives are and waiting for the government to give them free money.

i am 'proud' of our government's ability to come up with all sorts of schemes to take money from singaporeans.

If I am not wrong, they do give out money too. NSS, ERS. Of cos u expect the goventment to find ways to earn money la. What u expect? If the govenment have no money, the country collaspe and in the end it is the citizens who suffer. Because as a singaporean . i can speak two languages which are Mandarin and English language.. case closed..

The money that the Government have given us is just a mini portion of what we have giving to the Government.
So, what is given to us is later flow back to the Government.
NO DIFFERENCE.
But, it has come to a point that Singaporean is only PATRIOTIC on 9th of August.
It is patheric when the Government can invest hundreds of millions in celebration of the National Day instead of using the money wisely in saving the economy.
We are also in the process of rearing white elephant in the parliament collecting million dollars every month and basically clueless of what kind of life that the real citizens of Singapore is having.
When PM have to make his judgement based some beef-up statistics figure and not feeling and touching the people that have supported him, I am actually very sad.
I hope the Singapore Government can really understand the predicament of the Singaporean People, and not through a third party or buffered figures.
LKY's era was successful as he was able to gather great ministers that really care and concerned about the people.
Now, every policy or decision is TAGGED to money and not for the welfare of the Singapore People.
Build CASINO - Make Money
(If the reserve is well protected and well invested, why the CRISIS ????)
IOC Meeting - Make Tourist Money
(Is Olympic all about $$$ ?)
Learn Chinese - Make Money from China.
(What about appreciation of out forefather's culture and heritage ?)

Sigh, go to any forums and 80% of the forumners are negative and depressed people who always think that the world is such a bad place to live in. And the other 20% are the happy and rich who have absoutely no complains whatsoever. I wonder why... perhaps if you guys would just accept that the world is such and not a utopia perhaps your world would be a a little happier. To quote George Bernard Shaw , "Some men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream things that never were and ask why not." If you are unhappy about the way of life, try to change something that is within your control. Complaining and cursing will bring you no where. The reasons why I'm proud to be a Sillyporean.
1) I have save up the trouble of traveling to the poll centre for the past 3 elections to vote.
2) The rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. I'm grateful the garmen is setting up a ministers committee (the rich ppl) to solve the problem of the big salary differences of the poor.
3) Casino. It gives me an additional choice to diversify my current investments with the garmen.
4) The ERS and NSS shares scheme. The additional $$$ enables me to buy better food for my dog.
5) The NKF charity shows. I was entertained while punching in the donation numbers furiously on my hp under the temptation of the winning the condos, cars, master cards, etc.
6) I'm glad we have a living standard and medical coverage of a developed country. And we are paying it with our 3rd world pay check.
7) The garmen and I have reached a common understanding of the same problem. Both of us needs $$$, BADLY. -

I think you are generalising everthing here. You said 80% of every forumers of any forums are negative and depressing. Is there any statistic figures to proof that? Or is it just your opinion on things? I can tell you your figures are way off. If you are rich, it doesn't means you are happy, and if you are poor, it also doesn't means you are depressed too. It just that both different society hierarchies have different priorities on the same $$$ issue. The rich will find ways to make more $$$ so as to maintain or even improve their luxury lifestyle. The poor is just trying to make both ends meet.
Your quote of George Bernard Shaw is inappropriate here. You are telling us to keep dreaming and always ask "Why not?". Come on, get real! The only time I will dream and ask "Why not?", is the 10 million Toto on every Chinese New Year. For me, I always trying make changes within my control, but there is a limitation to it. Maybe, you should try this quote from the same author, George Bernard Shaw's "Lack of money is the root of all evil."
It's true complaining and cursing will bring you nowhere. But, in proper term, it's called "feedback" and feedback is what makes things improve.
Last but not least, I'm also a 100% Singaporean. When the nation security is threatened, I can tell firmly I will not be a step behind you when facing the threat. And I will lay down my life for my family and friends if necessary. My love is not just reserved for this country but also for my family and friends. I believe a lot of the forumers here are no less patriotic than you. So, stop acting as if you are the "Most Patriotic Singaporean" of the year.
Everybody has the right to voice out their own views. Respect the others and the others will respect you.
