because Singaporeans speak singlish, very inconciderate and we embarrass ppl from other country. Like when tourist ask us where is this place, we speak singlish which make them do not understand. So i advice u ppl out there to speak better english. Then i will be QUITE proud of myself as a Singporean. -

I think where you are born is no longer significant in today's global economy. I tend of think of myself as Cindy Inc (or Republic of Cindy). My resources are my knowledge and experience. I can move across border with ease. Being tied to a country, esp Singapore is no point. I seek the best of monetary, spiritual, quality of life, etc in a place.
To take up knifes and choppers to fight for my $200k, 83 years lease running, 110 sq m HDB flat, I hardly think so. I think my life is worth more than the every year depreciating $200K. -

btw i'm not proud to be one just like most of u here. and also, my ultimate goal is to migrate from this sad place. -
My aim is to be globally mobile.Then and only then, perhaps I'll have the luxury of loving Singapore again.
Right now, she's a birthplace and where some of my favorite people and family are.But nothing more than that.
I will defend her if I can, I'm proud that those of us who are fluent and linguistic are able to cross cultural boundaries much more easily than other people around the world.
But the things that we are proud of, hardly make up the so called truth and marketing that the MIW does. -

There are actually something nice about singapore - free library books, safe roads, safe at night, simple life (no need much brain) and some more -
"Simple life" = no need to think about who to vote, just follow the gov, only have to think about money, reproduce, weekend nothing better to do, watch movies, shopping, play with kids, send kids to tuition class, educate your kids to chase after money, and die.
Also there are only that much of mrt stops, that few shopping areas, that few public TV channels and newspapers, that very very few natural area, 1 type of weather, etc.
Quite easy and simple life right? -

Your quote of George Bernard Shaw is inappropriate here. You are telling us to keep dreaming and always ask "Why not?". Come on, get real! The only time I will dream and ask "Why not?", is the 10 million Toto on every Chinese New Year. For me, I always trying make changes within my control, but there is a limitation to it. Maybe, you should try this quote from the same author, George Bernard Shaw's "Lack of money is the root of all evil."
It's true complaining and cursing will bring you nowhere. But, in proper term, it's called "feedback" and feedback is what makes things improve.
Last but not least, I'm also a 100% Singaporean. When the nation security is threatened, I can tell firmly I will not be a step behind you when facing the threat. And I will lay down my life for my family and friends if necessary. My love is not just reserved for this country but also for my family and friends. I believe a lot of the forumers here are no less patriotic than you. So, stop acting as if you are the "Most Patriotic Singaporean" of the year.
Everybody has the right to voice out their own views. Respect the others and the others will respect you.
