When I was a student, I never imagined that one day I'd be worried about being considered over-the-hill once I'm pass my 20s. Unless the job is a physically demanding one I don't see why age is such a problem.
That being said, I have come across many in their 40s and 50s who are obstinate and not willing to learn new skills or think out of the box. Then again, I know teens who behave like that! Its just that the older people get stereotyped more.
with the population aging and government encouragiing people to retire at a later age employers must change their mindset.
