Anyone remembers the "illegal" place where they play billiard and Mahjong at the shophouses just beside the place where Kovan and heartland Mall MRT stands? There used to be a Indian prata shop called Resky or something
If u go at the side lane outside the restaurant, u can go into the "illegal" den.
I think it is no longer there. And the small army camp called simon camp. Is still around? -
U mean the huge maze of private property? Try not to walk inside even if u are familiar because it is so confusing that u can get lost there especially if u not been there for quite long.Originally posted by Ito_^:always kana lost there..
When u get lost it is hard to get out....especially the areas inside the maze Sandiland Rd, Lowland Rd, the places near St Gabreils, Parry primary and the old Serangoon Sec.... -
The last many years some areas inside this private property maze has been shut off and sealed....Be careful when u take the lane which from the main road YCK church there to go into the maze..There are dead ends near the Japanese cemetery

I miss the good old days staying in my terrace..it was so quiet and stress free compared the noise environment of HDB estate.
Well if any of u guys have an emotional conection with this areas vanishing in the future..dont worry...they will still be there and preserved for many years to come. The Govt may not do anything to it even if he wants to built flats need to evacuate the whole area mah...some more need to pay so much to get the land owned by the terrace dwellers. It is just impossible..This may be the heritage areas to preserve Singapore history..And the closes we can get to the relaxed cosy life in other countries -

I thinkt the whole yio chu kang, Kovan and Upp serangoon areas are the reminder of the pre 90s singapore life. Cosy and relaxed. This was how Rich people in Singapore lived. Maybe an ideal equivalent of the Swiss standard of living according to Singapre standards. The Ang MOHs will love this places if they migrate to Singapore.

From a taxi-driver perspective , we love Hougang area , Yio Chu Kang area , Serangoon Ave 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 area , 'cos two eyes close , sure got "on-call" !
In the morning , from 6am , to 11 am , Hougang area is the worst place you can get a cab !
This areas is some sort of popular "on-call' spot for us drivers . No need to hide ! Sure got !
No business go Hougang area sure got busine$$ !
You have to call then got cab , right Hougang residences ?
Stay Hougang good meh ?
Morning hours , go down town , CTE jam !
Go by Up Serangoon Rd , also jam !
Evening time , go back Hougang , CTE also jam !
One kind of frustration , right ?
Then MRT everytime spoil ! -
