What a farkin piece of maze man.....Once i got down the wrong bus stop from AMK after the f@#ckers changed the bus routes due to the NEL line wanted to go the HEartland Mall and asked for directions from a man. he told me to go into the road leading into the landed housing property. Once inside i lost my f@#kin way...no one to ask too the area so quiet wth nobody around wonder if people stay in the houses?
I went around in circles for quite long and finally asked someone to get out of the helluva maze!....Wondering how the hell is this maze of landed area so big the Govt allow? they could built some flats in the place. Becos all rich men stay here?
The place is quite good as it has a heritage town community feel with the churches and small schools.... this is what u can find in western countries like with their own self sustained community......And so awfully quiet like as if no single soul lives there!.... A far cry from all overpopulated the HDB areas! -

Actually u can make 1 round starting from boundaries:
Kovan centre> hearland mall> SRJC>the new Bowen sec there> Yio chu kang road> Kovan centre again
The other boundary is
Serangoon garden boundary : Serangoon NOrth (HDB>Serangoon garden(landed)> serangoon garden circus(landed)> serangoon ave (HDB)>
Serangoon ave (condo) .....THEN SHOOT TO TOA PAYOH -

Serangoon garden was the most popular in the 80s and 90s.
My first visit to KFC was when I was kid in the 80s situated at the serangoon garden circus
The roundabout there i remember , looks small and congested but seldom there is a jam. Know the 315 bus? -

Forgot to mention, the area which is now hougang ave 9 (hougang point shopping mall) and surrounding industiral areas on the verge of Serangoon North ave 5 were all forested regions before the mid 1990s. There were 2 farms there i think...one is a cow farm and the other was a duck farm.....and road leading to yishun also has private property......in a split second the whole area changed in a span of 2-3 years witht he companies sprouting out like mushrooms merging with AMK tech park....the next time i was there I found that there was this really useful bus service 72 which leads from NYP to Tampinese.
I say this is the most useful service the stoopid S#S brought about. it leads directly to tampinese in a short period of time
NYP students were the majority of ppl who takes this bus
and it is worth mentioning that Singapore most famous hospital IMH is also found around here....and most latest addition Buangkok MRT near IMH.Still not opened yet.. -

only went to eat durian opp the shopping centre last week.

To think about it, me also miss the old Oriental Emporium....used to hang out at billiard centre on the top floor. Inside is a paradise man....can smoke freely while playing number balls and same time bio all the Ah Lians. Miss the horse machines as well....feeling sooo shiok when time to collect the coins......

Used to have a GV cinema at hougang plaza many years back.
Now convert into entertainment centre. eg. K-box, Lan Games, Billiard, Pool.
The nearest cinemas will be at Bishan Junction 8 or Jubilee at AMK. -
been living in serangoon since 1984. love this place cos it is quiet and peaceful. alot of nice food and it is not overcrowded like the rest of hawker centre.

Mr Lim shop should still be there. The Bar next to it is no longer in operational.
Remember my last visit had a chat with Mr Lim, ask him why he don't move and he said that the shop was inherited from his father and therefore the shops at the 4 floor level was privated owned one. Therefore he waiting for the Bank to offer him a good price otherwise he said he will be stay as long as he can. Now he doing more and PC installation and hardware then selling games now.
