When I was in secondary school, I do pull-ups during my recess, everyday. I started out with 2, and slowly increased to 12. So... I guess it's just practising everyday. I don't think push-ups help because one of my friend who can do more than 18 pull-ups, cannot even reach 30 push-ups.Originally posted by t88:er..yah..tis is my first post here..
im 17 this year and im quite skinny. I can pass all my NAPFA test stations without problems except for my pullups. Can anyone give me advice on how to train for my pullups so that i can get a silver for my NAPFA and avoid the two extra months of NS?
maybe body weight plays a part... me can do average 30 but cannot do pull-upsOriginally posted by TuCkiE:When I was in secondary school, I do pull-ups during my recess, everyday. i do realise that practising helps but it is very difficult to practise if you cannot even go up half way in the first place..sighOriginally posted by TuCkiE:When I was in secondary school, I do pull-ups during my recess, everyday. Same, when I was in sec 1, I could do none. But just push a little and using the wrong method. But I did that everyday duing my recess time and by sec 3 I could do like 14. Guess its all about practising...Originally posted by TuCkiE:When I was in secondary school, I do pull-ups during my recess, everyday. I started out with 2, and slowly increased to 12. So... You relied solely on dumbbells?Originally posted by borntolive:chances are u will be too embarassed to go gym rite?
another way is to buy dumbells to train yr bicep n tricep.. make sure weight is sufficient and also do regular pull ups... i did exactly this n i can do from 0 pull ups to around 3-4 within 3-5 months
Yes I agree on this.Originally posted by thoreldan:this is the one i most agree on.

....Don't get dishearten with this minor setback.Only progressive training would improve ur fitness for chin ups. Stretch both of hands b4 any training.Originally posted by t88:i do realise that practising helps but it is very difficult to practise if you cannot even go up half way in the first place..sigh![]()

thanks for your advice...only problem is that i can barely do 3 assisted pullups..im very weak..sighOriginally posted by FX_82:....Don't get dishearten with this minor setback.Only progressive training would improve ur fitness for chin ups. Stretch both of hands b4 any training.
Do assisted chin ups with the help of a friend.Best is do 3 reps.In between the reps rest for awhile.Try to do at least 6 with assisted help then slowly decrease for the subsequent reps. Then slowly increase the number of chin ups as the week goes by depend on ur comfort.![]()
