My PC's setting all screwed by Window update!!

My god.....just now in the afternoon i wanted to update most of the program i was using by Window Update...there were no critical one but there was some other not-so important ones...like updating the Graphic cards etc.....i installed all of the available update and restarted my Pc...after it done so...the screen resolutiion was reset to 640x480 pixels and the colour setting was lowest (4 colours)..then i put 800x600 and highest colour and click apply...when i exit it and click properties again.....the setting went back to lowest and 640x480....so upset...my dad wanted to reformat the Pc but will that help? now im transferring all my pics so it wont be lost and im using the moment to write to u for help....

Do check the updates info to see if you need it.Putting things Bill Gates gives you into your PC without checking is absolute disaster.
You wouldn't let strangers into your house without knowing what they want, so you never let Microsoft products into your PC without finding out whether you need them.
Till now, I've not let SP2 into my system.And I'm considering fully migrating to a Mac.
But regarding your prob..I'm not too sure how to solve it.Sorry. -

I had a prob with the updates.
Now I switched them all off :p -

After safely installing SP2, I have since turned off the updates.
It's better to be safe without the safety packs than sorry.

simple. just install back the old driver that comes with your graphic card. problem sloved. unless u want the new features of the new driver which obviously doesn't seems to work with your graphic card.

if prob persists, get individual driver from each vendors and update one by one. -

most probably your new windows update is so new that your graphic card cannot keep it to it. i sugguest u go to your graphic card website and download it's newest driver. or uninstall the update, in whatever ways.

I never had SP2 in my system. My computer just keeps giving me the blue screen of death while installing. right now it's still working fine. I just install the updates except the SP2 and no more.

sp2 is pretty ok now 4 end-users...unlike last year...download drivers from microsofts is a no no...updates just for fixes and patches

You should be done by now. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
