why cant the older generation appreciate modern music?

i say hokien irritates me the most. its such a turn off hearing gangster wannabes speaking hokien. other dialects arent too bad, at least i can stand them. i hate mixing with ppl like that and me living in singapore for all my life have influenced me quite a bit. sometimes under the slip of my tongue i speak a little singlish which i think isnt a very cool thing.
my dad is in his 40s. -
actually i quite like oldies too..one of the main reasons why is that the older generation people like my parents claims that modern music is quite senseless and too noisy..which is true to a certain extent la as oldies are mostly love songs with some ample meanings in them..modern day music they make no sense at all. thats why..

IMHO, those bands are a bunch of jokers. Sue me. I hate the bands you like. So what? Can you justify the reasons why you like those pointless bands? Their musical abilities have all been tuned up by editing. this part i agree... i cant stand guys who kay kaing talk in hokkien either.. talking bout gay boy bands, well, m also put off by them and their "gay" attitude.. thumbs down.. ever wonder why old songs eg. by teresa teng, taiwan hokkien singer Chen Lei, or english ones by carpenters, or john denver remains forever popular to this day? but that the taiwan boy bands songs died down after 3 weeks after release? or the famous lao shu ai da mi, which is seldom heard over radio now, but yet u can still hear old old songs fm gold 90.5 FM or capital 95.8? even linkin park is also quiet now.. its only when they come for a singapore tour or release a new album then things will stir up and quieten down again..Originally posted by daphne_1802:its such a turn off hearing gangster wannabes speaking hokien. .

Daphne's choice of music is poor. Out of simple plan, good charlotte, greenday, my chemical romance etc. and ppl like kelly clarkson, eminem, 50 cent, I'd say that Greenday is the only one worth a listen. The rest are poseurs.
For some real good music, go listen to Teresa Teng and Nat King Cole. -
