Their behaviourial pattern can be traced back to growing up.
Nowadays, parents cannot control their kids. Maybe because they are too busy making huge somes of money. As a result, psycho-analysis comes to the same conclusion: that singaporean parents lavish their kids with expensive gifts can keep them quiet.
My generation hailed from a time when primary school kids were fearful of their cane-wielding teachers, when classrooms were slient as a tomb, where parents bring their kids out to macrichie reservoir every saturday to play frisbee and run about. When parents knew how to manage their kids and give them the right form of attention.
It was also a time of recession in the 1980s, where retrenchment was at an all time high. Unemployment was at its worst in years, and people never took hard-earned cash for granted.
Teens nowadays spend like nobody's business and with the obvious lack of parent's guidance, sink deeper into juvenile deliquency. Many skip school without their parent's knowledge and hang out with their 'friends' at places such as level one far east plaza and bugis junction.
Rowdy teens is just scrapping the surface. -

the kids these days really.. call teachers names in front of them thinking they dun understand them. fight in class right under the teacher's nose. hand in blank scripts and the whole class cheers. fei ge chuan shu during classes. ask them line up in twos they line up in clumps. ask them walk silently they walk with their mouths gaping open.

Another 'bash-the-kids' session? Ok, here's my $0.02....
I personally think that kids these days are much more havoc as compared to when I was their age. The saddest thing is, I just turned 22 two weeks ago. I'm only a few years removed from their age, yet they seem to be a full generation away. I really feel like some cranky old man when I see those kids with their havoc ways.
I won't take a huge brush and paint all the kids today similarly - I know that these havoc kids are the minority. Unfortunately, the way I see it, the minority is getting bigger.
To be frank - I'm glad I was born a few years earlier and not become a part of their 'generation'. -
im pretty satisfied and content about this.. if there are no "disgusting" teenagers like that.. then it makes good teenagers like me have a harder time being good.

No lah. I think teens nowadays are those who like to voice their views out which explains their noise levels in public places.
If you listen closely , they are mostly arguing their views on everyday issues and anything under the sun.
They speak english mostly but its not entirely english when you can still hear a bit of leh , loh , lahs alongside with their sentence. Not totally westernised actually.
Their overall appearence are really different from the 90s teens . Not into beng and lian kind of culture. Hard to find them with tug out uniforms and smoking in the public. They look more cleaner and tidier , I would say. -

Agree.. my friend keep askng me go Starbucks, $5++ le.. and i dont drink it myself, only 3 forced times western food

retailers see youths as filthy rich and are all eager to clean their wallets.. and youths got typically very little bargaining skills as compared to adults. things like electronics, in Courts etc.. most shops even in heartland shopping centres may give a small discount after persistant bargaining, esp. big ticket items. try in overseas pasar malam. i does that most of the time. only goes to foodcourts, never kopitiams.
cos foodcourt is clean and have aircon. i disagree.. foodcourt is expensive and the food is NEVER good.. (too bad for ppl in SKG, PGL, SEM, WDL u all got very little kopitiams), tho kopitiams had stopped opening in new neighbourhoods watch excessive movies
