The comments made by Mrs Goh Chok Tong on the case in today's Straits Times was very very disturbing:
Her Comments on Mr Durai's salary.
"For a person who runs a multi-million dollar charity organisation, $600,000 is peanuts as it has a few hundred millions in reserves"
Her comments on NKF's lack of transparency and deliberate misleading of the public.
"Why make a fuss out of it"
No corruption in Singapore?

The CEO got 12 months of bonus.
How many months of bonus do you think the Board of Directors are getting ??
Try probing into the BOD's bonus and you will know why the CEO have to be supported and made the scapegoat later.
He have misuse the funds in paying for the road tax of his wife car.
How come he is not charged ?? -
Hey People, don't waste your time, energy and money!!! Nothing is going to happen here in Singapore. Life will go on, NKF will go on, the Charity Shows will go on and people will continue to donate. Mrs Goh has already forgiven them....so does that mean the government also will turn a blind eye to this matter?

I ever heard from my friends that NKF actually organised overseas tours for all their staffs.......I do not believe in the first place but now.......they can pay 12 month bonus.......I raise my foot to believe totally.
We Singaporean are taking pay cut...no bonus.....higher living costs......yet NKF give 12 months bonus for 3 years........bloodsuckers.
We should protest till NKF being taken over by public trustee and all their funds and figures should be make know to the public! -
In a separate statement, the NKF Board says it has discontinued its proceedings against Singapore Press Holdings and its senior writer Ms Susan Long.
And the decision to withdraw was a considered decision made in the best interests of the NKF, its supporters, donors and patients.
The Board also reiterated its whole-hearted support for Mr Durai as its CEO and looked forward to carrying on all its life-saving activities with full vigour and strength, and to continue to serve the public to the best of its ability.

The sickening thing is that legally, they have not committed any crime. If they are guilty of something, it is that NKF is run by an unethical and immoral bunch of blood sucking merceneries who choose to make luxury use of public donations for their own cosy comfort.
The board of directors may have unanimously given a confidence vote for the CEO, but the public image and righteousness has been forever tarnished. In effect, NKF has become damaged goods.
This all stems from plain and simple greed. Just like monks who drive mercedes benz and churches that use state-of-the-art entertainment systems during their masse, money is being lavished in all the wrong places. Charity has become a money-spinning business.
I have no dispute over his monthly salary as i accept that when TT Durai started out he was offered 20K and chose to take only 12K. That was probably his last gracious act as CEO. But why organisations are willing to hand out exhorbitant bonuses, why they splurge on drivers and expensive cars and why they no longer treat NKF as a charity organisation but as a 'business' with annual turnovers and profit margins, is truly beyond my understanding.
The donation process has just another means, another cash cow by which to obtain public funds for purposes that may not have had the patients' best interest at heart. -
I am dissappointed with NKF and will not donate anymore to any NKF sponsored charity. Let them use their reserve which can last more than 30 years ..
But frankly speaking, the true motivation (at least part of it, if not all) most of people donate to NKF is to win big prizes .. they (including me .. he he he) feel somehow doing a good deed and at the same time have a chance to win those prizes .. -

Rumours are best left as that - speculation.
What we know may only constitute a small percentage of how NKF utilises its funding. And there are already signs of a lack of transparency and a deliberate attempt to hide certain facts, facts which if came to light would like senior counsel davinder singh so clearly put: lose moral authority with the public. -
600k a year for a CEO is fair indeed, but NKF is a charitable organisation. if money is of prime concern i strongly suggest that he goes for a position in the private sector. 1 million a year is also a possibility.

with the kind of money ( read : donations ) NKF have these days, the money could be better spent getting these machines for all the 2000 to 3000 patients they have..
