The comments made by Mrs Goh Chok Tong over the annual income of TT Durai are somewhat insensitive, especially to the lower income groups.
In addition, the manner in which she was quoted seems to stem from her belief that NKF is a profit-driven organisation rather than a NON-PROFIT organisation, which as i understand it, was the original intention. -

STOP ALL DONATIONS TO NKF!!
Pulling your donations away from NKF and channel them to other charities will ensure your $ gets to the ones who really need your help.
Continue your contributions to NKF = your hard earned $$ to grow their reserves and fat salaries <> (not equal to) helping the needy.
$600K/year.. most NKF donors cannot even imaging making that kinda $$ in 10 years! I personally know many dedicated, long term charity workers making <1K/mth, serving in communities. Many give up their good full-time jobs (such as lawyers and bankers), to serve those who are less fortunate than them.
In any case, NKF's operation will not be jeopardized as they have up to 30 years reserve to support their current operation!
NKF did no justice to donating public as they are "Holding" donated funds in their fat reserves.. meant for the needy. In doing so, they deprive desperately needed funds from other charities and thus the underprivileged.
Therefore, I strongly urge everyone to STOP ALL donations to NKF. Put your funds into charities where they will be better spend. -

I am so disappointed with the insensitivity shown by Mrs Goh Chok Tong in her "peanuts" comments. Obviously, for a top lawyer like her and someone who mixes with the apex of our society, $600K may seem trite. However, for most of us, it is a very significant sum, especially to pay someone who heads a charity.
If T T Durai is a fund manager or private banker managing $200+ million of funds for profit, I don't care what pay he draws.
Mrs Goh and the Board of NKF should really examine themselves and review the entire philosophy of NKF. -

However i am affected by the methods they used to harvest donations from the public as well as angry when the results from national TV proves Singaporeans are still supporting them. Gulliable or what?
Maybe you've misunderstood my comment. It was a personal statement.
I believe there are a portion of singapore who thinks like me. I do spare my thoughts for patients and those people who offered their lives to help.
They can do what offered. I can choose where to offer my money to.
However, if i'm not a believer in the Org. I think my money should have gone somewhere which could truly help the needy. At least i could see the money i donate HAS put into good use.
Anyway NKF is self sufficent - looking at the supporters.
There's another portion of Singaporean who questioned this and that but still donate.
The remaining ones are diehard fans, it's alot!!!.
Mistrust in funds? Justice? Never. Because in government itself, it's not transparent.
This policy cannot be enforced unless our MM give it a go.
