Let's put in the reality...Originally posted by av98m:The kidney patients will NOT suffer any more than they already are if we stop donating for the next 10 or 20 years because:
1. NKF's reserves can last that long in a worst case scenario
2. Most people who apply for subsidies get rejected anyway, under their current criteria. You have to be near destitute to qualify for their subsidies.
Don't get taken in any more by the lies. By stopping donations we are NOT making kidney patients suffer.

40 yrs reserve? At the rate of increasing kidney patients, 40 yrs might end up 20 yrs unless we take care of our health
NKF's Board and its CEO TT Durai to step downhttp://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/157917/1/.html
SINGAPORE : The NKF Board and its CEO, Mr TT Durai, have offered to resign in order to give Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan a free hand on restoring public confidence.
In a statement, the Health Ministry says they have requested the minister's assistance to re-constitute a new Board and appoint a new CEO.
In the interest of the dialysis patients and the NKF, Mr Khaw has agreed to help in this effort.
The Ministry statement says over the next few days, the government will appoint an interim Board to ensure the continuous operation of NKF's various dialysis centres.
It will also work on medium-term tasks, including forming a new Board, appointing a new CEO, reviewing accounting practices, funding needs, and pricing and subsidy policies.
Pending completion of these reviews, the statement says the NKF will suspend all active fund-raising activities.
The Chairman and members of the Board, together with its CEO, had approached Mr Khaw for advice on how to respond to the public reaction to the court case between the NKF and the Singapore Press Holdings.
Mr Khaw stressed two immediate priorities: caring for NKF dialysis patients should not be disrupted in any way and the shattered public confidence must be restored. - CNA/de
well, there is some truth in the 3 year, and that is if they have to fully pay for paitent's fees, think about it, if they do that, would you then donate?Originally posted by the Bear:20 years is more than the 3 years NKF professed they had
p.s. isn't that like Durai saying that the taps were not $1000, they were only $990!

I am glad Mr Khaw is helping in this issue. He is one of the few leaders whom I think is still very much in-touch with the working class.Originally posted by the Bear:i have a gut-feeling that khaw will clean it up...
the whole SARS episode showed that he wasn't going to stand for coverups..
i have a lot of respect for our health minister. i hope he wont let us down.Originally posted by thinker:The ball now is thrown to our dear Health Minister Mr Khaw. Let's wait and hear what real actions been put in place and whether they are transparent for all members of Singapore.
What our Health Minister does is to try and salvage the situation... but there is still a need for those ppl to explain their misleading information, extravangant expenses, etc... A lot of donors needs further explanation and further knowledge of whether there r further activities in the organisation that r undisclose to the general public.![]()
