As you should know, the NKF Saga resulted in many of us feeling abused
and cheated.
Thank you all for exposing NKF's lies. This is something that we
should be proud of.
NKF owes us an apology for lying to us about their funds.
In addition, NKF should disclose their full accounts over the past 7
years and how much of it truly went to needy patients.
Nevertheless, I do hope that many of you out there will still be
committed to helping the needy.
I am thinking of starting my own Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO)
that is truly committed to helping people.
To achieve that, my vision will be different from the existing charity
organisations
1) Committed to only 10 selected well deserving needy patients/ people
in Singapore. With less, we can focus better.
2) Full disclosure of the names of donors.
3) Full disclosure of the 10 selected needy patients/ people.
4) Full disclosure of the funds and how money was used.
5) Monthly updates on the 10 selected needy patients on my blog

Due to the small scale of this organisation, I expect no pay salary for this.
This is about going directly to needy people with less channels.
By doing so, we will truly appreciate what charity is all about.
No tricks, no gimmicks and no publicity stunts needed.
But I will need some help to get the act together. I will need to
register as a society through the proper authorities. The processing
time is 2 months long and a lot of paperwork.
In addition, there's a chance that the request may be rejected.
Although there may be a chance that such a request may be rejected, I hope that
you readers will come and support me.

are keen in helping out on voluntary basis.
For your information, I am 25 years old, living in a HDB flat, studied
in neighbourhood school, and a local polytechnic, graduated with a
degree but drawing an irregular monthly income of S$1000 - S$2000
(because i'm a real estate housing agent and all housing agents do not
have regular income).
I understand that plight of middle class working
adults but I have dreams of contributing back to society, despite my
middle class status.

Let's face it.... the trust the general public has in NKF has been totally shattered. It's one thing to get Durai and his entire board to resign, but it's another to regain the trust and goodwill that has been lost.Originally posted by sbst275:Pls... No more of the durian and that peanuts...

I'm not saying that we should condone this behaviour of harping on what has past, but let's face it... a lot of people are going to hold grudges against the NKF in the years to come. And with good reason too - they all feel betrayed by the revelations of the past few days. Every company knows that it is far better to lose some money in the short than to lose customers and try to rebuild the lost goodwill in the long run.
The same goes for NKF. Just substitute 'customers' with 'donors'.
NKF has been building a huge amount of trust in the people of Singapore for 36 years - and it took them 72 hours to lose it all. They have an uphill battle ahead of them. I'm pretty sure most people are willing to give second chance - but a lot has to be done first before that can happen. -

Latest "news":Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who's in the US, has also commented on the NKF controversy.
Mr Lee said he did not rule out a public inquiry although at this time the priority is to appoint new board members and a CEO.
Mr Lee said he understands why many Singaporeans are so upset because they have made donations in one way or another to NKF.
He acknowledged that it will take time for NKF to rebuild trust with the public.
Mr Lee also said several MPs and ministers would discuss the matter when parliament sits on Monday and Tuesday. -
