certainly not. i do not do foolish acts to shame myself in public. although i have conflicting views with many others and i acknowledge that, please understand that i was brought up in an english-speaking environment. my parents however speaks chinese more than english are effectively billingual and speaks to me in english most of the time. i still feel that they are a little too cheena and old-fashioned at times but they are good parents. one thing for sure, english is my main language and will always be.Originally posted by carpe diem jur:but i'm sure u dun go ard complaining abt the entire hokkien dialect group right?? -

Secondly, you mentioned that you have "seperated" all ties with him, but later on you admit to still hanging on to faint hopes because you still like him. Trying to contradict yourself?
Thirdly, you like him mainly because you find him to be the tall, dark, handsome, well built, generally good looking guy. Shallow? On this count I think he would probably be better off not having you by his side.
Lastly, I did not want to attack you neither do I like doing so. I believe the others do not too. But if you do not stop this "holier than thou" bullcrap, that is probably going to be the only thing you would be facing in this forum.

"Cheena" people who know their roots,know how to speak their mother tongue and is not ashame of it or someone who has forgotten all her roots and is ashame of your own race's language.

Yes mutual respect is required,i agree that if he openly or privately scold u in any form of language vulgarity,it is not having respect for you as a person.But neither are u having respect for him in his choice of language.You would actually be saying that just because he is using hokkien that is why he is not fit to be your friend rather than that the reason of him scolding at you vulgarities (I m not even sure if he really did) -

Is the english used by this guy any better than the hokkien that u despise so much? its not the language but the person who uses it.
