Donors pledge only $6,800 to NKF Cancer Fund during TV show
SINGAPORE : Donors pledged $6,800 to the NKF Cancer Fund as of 5pm on Thursday.
This is a far cry from the previous shows which raised between $600,000 and $900,000.
Despite the 1-900 numbers being kept opened until 9pm, the NKF Cancer Show 3 did not actively canvas for donations.
But supporters of NKF turned up in force and packed the TV studio half an hour before the show started at 7.30pm.
The "Thank You Show" is the first presented, where no funds were actively raised on-air, but fans of foreign artistes like Jeff Zhang were not disappointed.
In the past few years, NKF has expanded its fund-raising efforts beyond just kidney, to include children and cancer patients. - CNA/de -

Well, this morning i was discussing with my mum about the bungalow case.
She read that story b4, and it was abt NKF heartlessly wrenched that bungalow from the wife of the deceased, who willed it to NKF.
Seems she had no other place to stay then.
Anyone read the story, is this true?
Btw, the good thing is majority of the population wanted to help the kidney patients, but we have to do it thru NKF to get thru to these patients. And when some encourage people to continue to donate to NKF to help these patients, its like NKF is seriously holding these patients as hostages.

To all who are truly concerned for kidney patients, there is another charity, KDF which has much better reputation where you can donate to.

ya.. yrs ago.. some joker stated in his will that half of his house goes to the NKF after he die..... and after he really die.... Btw, the good thing is majority of the population wanted to help the kidney patients, but we have to do it thru NKF to get thru to these patients. And when some encourage people to continue to donate to NKF to help these patients, its like NKF is seriously holding these patients as hostages.

The mentality now is if they got over 20 years in reserves, theres no need to donate till they start running low.

they only gave out 7.2 million of subsidies in 2003. they have 262 million in reserves. do your calculations!!!
please dont let your emotions get the better of you and support blindly. tell it to all that are still donating to nkf.

the right thing for nkf to do now is to give part of their funds to other needy charities. -

But I must say, 40 yrs? End up, it might end up depleted in 10 yrs?? Maybe, maybe not as ppl are not taking care of their health as of our lifestyle... -

Are you thinking with your brain or have u sit on it too long to even think rationally? where do the salary for these people come from? Did u even know how an organization operates? they need funds by selling products and services and for an non-profit org like nkf, where do they get the funds? from us! they have let the money corrupt their mind and forgot that they are a non-profit org. sad.

just imagine the first 120000 calls at 5 bucks each only make for his pay and that's not including the 8 vehicles the org has to feed, and needless to say, the rest of the 'perks' he 'deserves'. da-mn. this kind of money could have help more patients, don't you think so? whoever's relatives or friends could have free treatment at the rate that we have been donating. do you know there are many who cannot effort the treatment were rejected by nkf for the dialysis subsidy? - i didn't know - until one mp point out about this. sad again.

I apologise for my mistake in not knowing that NKF is not making good use of its donation funds.
If the new management shows that they can make effective use of the donations, ie subsidising 70% instead of the current 20%, I may consider donating again.

....all come undone in 1 week, destoryed.
Effectively, this is virtually tens of millions of dollars wasted. Reputation is the most valuable thing in a VWO. -

If he can keep $600k of our money in his pocket and smile happily why must we suffer so much with COE, GST and our hp bills each month?
If he refuse to donate his $600K of our money back to NKF and the gov does nothing about it. Why should we? -
i feel the governments should set a good example by donating to organisation from now on. Since money to them are peanuts anyway.

One angmoh has just written to ST Forum, asking if the artistes who performed received payments, and if they charged 'full' scale for their performance. Now that is going to open another CAN of worms....
The Chinese papers this morning lambasted Cao Qitai - Timothy woh ! The viewers were unhappy that Cao in his closing speech said that unlike Singaporean views who might eventually forget 1900 112 6868, he would always remember.
Viewers complained that Cao was being sarcastic in his remarks, and that his facial expression was apparent.
NOW let's find out how much Cao Qitai is being paid. If he is paid some astronomical figures, that will be interesting. He is just unhappy that Singaporeans have together slaughtered his 'golden goose'.
Cao is a PR after so many years. Like the rest of the FTs who refused to take up citizenship, Cao's fox tail has finally shown !
