I think even regular also dun wanna fight as they sign on only want money as they work outside either cannot survive or too little money. NS.. is a liabilty that we are to do.. As a Singaporean... We need to know the importance off defence... if we dun do it, who is gonna do it???.... Remember 1942 15 feb... when SG fell into Jap hands..WHY??? British did not care to defend their colony.... So we need to defend it ourselves... Though i hate ARMY..... i still am serving.. rite now.. i am now in NS... Serving.. In Armour... Overseas posting....
Know that SG is our country...... if other people come and hurt your loved ones, would you like it?? Would you want that to happen.. i also want to have freedom also wish no NS..... but come to think of it.. its just a routine thingy that you will have to go through to help you know the importance of defence....
Know that you will need to defend your country as your love ones live in it..

and my generals all those 5 , 6 7, 8 , 9 stars type all are those who've never fought in a real war one, and i'm expected to fight on the front lines while a "paper general" is going to plan the next course of action which is going to dictate whether i survive or not, do you think i want to fight?
why should i defend anyone who think their lives are more important than mine ? why should i be expected to die for them? -

The whole question will be whether there will need to be a Need for War , We're more profitable as a Economic partner than a country with refugees with their(invading country) currency pegged to nothing valuable.
So long as we maintain courtesy and a Show of reasonable defence force. We're ok.
The worse part about NS is the compulsory service which you have to return to do reservist, and spoil your employment opportunities in the private sector. If you catch a chicken pox and also asked to return to serve Reservist in the same year, you will be also asked to take all your entitled leaves before you are dismissed which means a total of 2 months absence and paid for not working with the company.
Which is why the private sectors do not want to hire Reservists. Especially when they have to also go RT . -

Swim, dig a hole or fly away, I will get my family and friends to do it. Why bother to defend this country when all you get is silly peanuts remark from the rich and famous? My bro said, he will fight only if the gov puts in US$10 million into a swiss bank account for us and send us to safety first. Only then he will stay and fight. Show him the peanuts and he will fight.
99% of my guy friends shared the same sentiment as my bro. All said NS wasted their time. They said, want to see corruption in Singapore? Go NS.
By the way, my bro told me that the rich can buy their sons out of army using $100K, wonder how much of it is true? -

No, cos I understand the decent value that I fight for what I live in. My family is here, my friends are here. I put myself in the line jus so they can be safe. The atrocities of war is not funny. Men will get killed, women may be raped, children may be forced to work in hard labour.

but you need to sign contract which states that you are not allowed to marry in the next 15 years.
not easy to cheat, cos' i think they'll let u watch porn videos and send free girls to play with you. If you get hard down there, gone lah. they'll charge you for lying and u go DB loh. -
