Same here, tats why kena warning as i too bo chap, den this officer tell me my ord performance review not gd as i going to ord next mth. I tell him, sir at the first place those big fuc k know who i am n see me working or not, so is it fair for him to review me. Do u think i give a damn in all this shi t. Serve n forget, dun care so much liao... Waste of time, or else now got degree n start working. u've been brain-washed lah, kid. the thing is : SG not enough personnel/regulars in the army, unlike other countries. that's why they make it compulsory for the guys to serve ns. if got enough regulars, u think they care meh? u think they care to implement so much effort, time and resources and money to get us in meh?
they might well as spend the NSF pay, NSF welfare money and NSF resources to buy more Apache copters and Primus tanks, right?
as for 302....who's that guy who ask it. oh yes......i said before already.
302 means gay. if u really declare yourself 302 at the CMPB check-up, u think the SAF will believe you so easily meh?
they will question/interrogate your parents,friends and siblings one by one. any inconsistencies on any of them and you get exposed loh.
then they make you sign all kinds of contracts and forms(you know how the SG government/army works lah....all paperwork, black-white). As if that's not enough, still got psychologist to test you.
in the first place, the mere thought of trying this already scares so many people, no one dare to try lah.
besides, the psychologist will be very skeptical one, got a lot of tests to really crack and wreck you, like the way Davinder Singh fcuk the crap out of Durain King.

that is where you guys are totally wrong! the certificate of service is the most important thing after your 2 years in the army. it is a document which states whether you are responsible, got leadership qualities etc. imagine you are a hirer and you compare 2 men with the same qualification. one obtained very good for his service and the other obtained only satisfactory. who will you choose? of cos is the one with very good because he has proofed himself to be capable to be able to obtained that grading, whereas the other has proofed that he is not that responsible etc to obtain the otherwise.Originally posted by Mr Fugue:NSFs' performance will affect regulars' careers mah, that's why they so concern...but I bo hill lan.
and who says being an officer, sgt and enlistee dun make a difference. when you are applying for a job that needs you to have some managing skills(basically all the jobs these days need some management skills, except those lowly paid ones) the employer will see what is your military status. if you are an officer it proves that you have leadership skills etc...all the above plays a very important part on whether you get the job or not. -

anyway for your information in case you dun noe, your review is given by your direct superior, which i believe is your PC or equivalent. when i was a PC in my battalion, there was also a handful of men that always bo chap, dun go exercises etc. but when i was doing my review for them, i decide not to give them a poor grade, at least a satisfactory for them because i noe that this review is very important to them when they orded.
likewise, i understand how important this review is for me when i graduate and go out to work. that is why there were many times my OC arrowed me and my fellow Pcs to do a lot of thing, no matter how unwilling, out of responsiblity and for the review we need to do it. -

personally, no doubt ns has took up 2.5 years of my time, resulting in graduating later than my gals frens, but i really treasure my time in ns. the reason is the limit it has pushes me and all the friends i had made. especially those made when we were a cadet, getting tekan like hell. this is where bonds are really build and we call each other "brothers".
jcc in brunei,having to starve for abt a week without food but need to climb mountains and navigate. as far as i am concern, this is definitely not fun. but the memories are something that i will remember for a very long time.
my point is, there is no way a healthy man can escape doing ns. so why not enjoy it rather than keeps complaining abt it. try to make these 2 years of your life worth living, try to learn new things, make new friends because these are things you cannot "enjoy" in the civilian life. -

Honestly, most of the NSF officers i've come across are absolutely ineffective leaders. They got comissioned mostly b'cos they were fit or excelled in military skills, but sorely lack command and communication skills. And a good few are just wayang kings that got their OCS wishes granted b'cos the instructors pitied their desperate efforts.
Being an Officer does not necessarily equate to having good leadership skills. -

Can't use military leadership in commercial sector as we all know officers here r highly protected n pampered, if one nsf men nv follow order from officer, he will prone to charges, extra, n other punishments. Somemore the poor nsf lack of freedom, they can't say anything but to listen to the officer's order despite the instructions got problem. Unlike outside world, nsf can't job hopping, if the officer fuc k up, they lan lan have to work under him until ord, but outside they not happy they can go... Hence this will give the officer an impression they r gd in leading the men n willing to work for them but actually its not really the truth.

but if you voice out to him nicely,the situation may not be that bad.......but on the other hand if he refuses to give in.......never mind just do...and if anything cock up....just say.....i know this cannot be done but my OC wnts to do it one -
hai , i tink the cert is of no use ... cos pple will look at ut work exp , grades first.... some more the male employers mostly serve ns , they also know hos the system works so its of no importance to them ... its just a piece of paper which everyone has... most importantly if u r good in doing things right , u no need to worry about jobs.. they will find u ...

For me.. i will try... know why? not for recognition or anything... but to prove something to myself... i guess thats what drives these people... to know that you can achieve something..
