A bicycle is legally a vehicle and has as much right to use the road as you do as a driver. If they work and live in Singapore, they pay taxes. So yeah, techically they did pay for their share of the road.Originally posted by Ogbunwezeh:IMO, as a driver, its ok for cyclists to cycle along the road just as long as they know how to cycle safely. Sometime saw some cyclists cycle almost near the middle of a single lane, even a car can't go straight, need to swirve out to avoid colliding the cyclists. Remember once, while driving along Mandai Road, got 2 ang mog cyclists take one whole lane for them to cycle, in the end, no car able to travel on tat lane... They tot the road they buy one ah.

And what the hell does the race of the cyclists have to do with anything?

If the cyclist life is cheaper than urs, then I think your life is not worth that much than Lance Armstrong. What I'm trying to say, DUN say other ppl life ios cheap and when u havent compare urs with others!Originally posted by Honeybunz:Two incidents happened during the week, thanks to the cyclist.
1st, a cyclist came out of nowhere lang gah my car door when I stopped my car, preparing to turn out from the car park.
2nd incident , at the traffic light junction, a cyclist almost dashed across the road when I turned. The pedestrian light was red. But obviously these cyclists don't care. They take for granted that all car drivers will look out for them and stop the car in time.
In the above two cases, if any of the cyclist get hurt, who will be blamed? The driver lor, even though the cyclists think that their life is cheap.
Often, when they cycle on the road, they look so wobbly. They look like they are going to fall anytime, if I overtake time.
Why can't the gahmen just ban them?
Once my friend gave me a lift home. A indian cyclist dashed across at the junction. My friend almost hit him, cuz she couldn't see him (neither could I) as it was quite dark at night (dun mean to be racist). Don't they care about their life? If they get hurt, they will start blaming the driver and sue for compensation, for sure!
agrrhhh
I do know what he means. He's gotta deal with it. Slow moving traffic is a fact of life on the road. Sometimes you're stuck behind a slow moving truck. There's no difference between that and bicycle, except of course bikes move slower. But that's not my point.Originally posted by shinta:think he meant they're slowing traffic..
How would you know? For all you know they have a car each.Originally posted by Steph84:they never pay road tax leh![]()
vehicles who move very slowly are inconsiderate... bicycle or limousine.. they are just plain inconsiderate.. i dun care who's ridin them.. they're makin the traffic slowOriginally posted by 443BXdrv:I do know what he means. We cannot expect the gahmen to do everything for us. Then why do we complain if they enact more rules and regs for us to follow? We blame them for restriction of freedom, but on the other hand we WANT them to ban cyclists?Originally posted by Honeybunz:harnor.
That one also nevermind.
Once I saw a cyclist riding at the 1st lane, ie the most right hand lane. He win liao lor.
Why I say they think their life is cheap (I don't think their life is cheap, but they do, as they don't simply care whether they will get hurt or not, and leave the responsiblity to the drivers. )
-- most of them (only a few 1 or 2 on the road who bother) don't bother to install anything to make them more visible at night.
So if driver hit them, due to the cyclist's negligence, whose fault? Driver again lor.
Given that gahmen don't ban them, but gahmen should do some adjustment to the law, like make it compulsory that they take extra care (install some safety feature and ride with care) or else ban/suspend them. Well, drivers do get their license suspended if they offend the law more than certain no. of times. Also gahmen should set the law in such that drivers don't get blamed for any accident. Also a license plate should be issued to every bicycle. This law was imposed long long time ago. But now, I dunno whether gahmen do away with it, or ppl just don't follow anymore. I suggest : No license plate = No riding in public areas, except East Coast Park. At least, with the license plate, if there is any accident which is due to the cyclists fault, we can mark the license plate.
