I read current newspapers almost everyday unless im having exams, watch discovery planet etc.

hmmm.... these qn u pose also apply to a lot of working adults mah... there are working adults who are very specialized in their area of work, but dun even know how to change a light bulb... there are some adults who are jack of all trades.. there are adults who knows nuts whatz going on ard them coz they are too bz making ends meet... n there are plenty of adults out there who gossip behind pple's back all the time...
in any case, the things that u commented apply to all age grps, i feel... probably due to more knowledge n affluence... -

I think it applies to all the age group.

Depends on the individual's maturity. I know of some adults who can be more childish than teenagers.

I try not to judge ppl whom I have not assess in depth over a reliable time frame. Knowing some ppl by a few minutes does not show their true character. He may be a jerk on surface but a friend indeed when you are in need.
Some may paint a false image and turn out to be a backside player in time to come. -

I think teens now live at the moment unlike in the past in my time was early nineties we were planning for the future to get a degree and a job. But those times were different as it was easy to land a job.

but i personally think that it applies more especially so to teenagers of today
i've friends who just live for the moment and nv plan anything, just float thru life following the crowd.
sad rite but i guess every1 must go thru this phase to mature
sometimes i also heck care current affairs since NSF where got time to read newspaper. Newspaper used for cleaning windows one haha... -

That said, some teenagers seem to only think about the present. My tuition student (Sec 3) slacks all the time and couldn't care less about his work. He seems to have the mentality to 'enjoy the present... the future will take care of itself'. By his own admission he copies most of his homework blindly and lazes in class. One consequence of this is that he can't even solve simple Maths sums like 1/7 divided by 2.

As for ignorance of current affairs/general knowledge.... quite true I guess. I dare say even some of the so-called 'top students' are guilty of this. For some of them their knowledge is limited only to what they learnt in the classroom. When 9/11 occurred, some of my classmates were stunned to hear that the Arab hijackers were Muslims. They have always held the view that only Malays can be Muslims.

As for superficial judging of people.... not only teenagers are guilty of that. Much older adults can do that as well. I've been at the receiving end of pathetic, superficial and over-judgemental viewpoints from both teens and adults. For instance, some of my Sec 3 classmates took my Brit-like accent to be a source of arrogance and treated me accordingly. Likewise, some of my colleagues during my vacation job took the fact that I am an undergrad as an indication that I'm rich, pampered, spoilt, and snobbish.
