That said, some teenagers seem to only think about the present. My tuition student (Sec 3) slacks all the time and couldn't care less about his work. He seems to have the mentality to 'enjoy the present... the future will take care of itself'. By his own admission he copies most of his homework blindly and lazes in class. One consequence of this is that he can't even solve simple Maths sums like 1/7 divided by 2.

As for ignorance of current affairs/general knowledge.... quite true I guess. I dare say even some of the so-called 'top students' are guilty of this. For some of them their knowledge is limited only to what they learnt in the classroom. When 9/11 occurred, some of my classmates were stunned to hear that the Arab hijackers were Muslims. They have always held the view that only Malays can be Muslims.

As for superficial judging of people.... not only teenagers are guilty of that. Much older adults can do that as well. I've been at the receiving end of pathetic, superficial and over-judgemental viewpoints from both teens and adults. For instance, some of my Sec 3 classmates took my Brit-like accent to be a source of arrogance and treated me accordingly. Likewise, some of my colleagues during my vacation job took the fact that I am an undergrad as an indication that I'm rich, pampered, spoilt, and snobbish.
To hell with them, I say. -
put it this way... the reason why teenagers are teenagers is becoz they have yet to exp many things in life, so itz no wonder that they tend to adopt the "live for the moment" attitude... the more fortunate ones who have pple to guide them wil probably be more aware that they have to plan for the future..
but as yrs go by, they will be more aware of their responsibilities in society, n they will b more prudent...
but i maintain my stand that adults are guilty of the very same things... more so when it comes to judging pple... watever it is, for teenagers, we are not attacking u guys, but becoz the world is changing so rapidly n more volatile, u need to be more aware of wat is going on ard u, n make sure u dun spend every single cent on ur own stuff..

The teenagers nowadays are more spoilt & self-centred cos they grow up pampered. Parents spoil them cos they only have 1- 2 kids unlike in the past when they struggle to feed big families.
Things come easy for them esp the richer ones.
They get branded clothes, hp, computers, big allowances, holidays abroad, maids to pick up after them.
I guess they are luckier than pple born earlier. -

and i dun have a personal com and big allowance
so it depends how u live...i dun complain at all...mainly becoz i dun like holidays and i dun like maids. I'd rather do housework myself. -
Be it teenage or adult one must always remember neber take things for granted. Want to have money to buy things or feed stomach go out and earn it. Dun take money from parents. Granted teenagers are studying so can dun work but have to remember earn money very difficult once you work you will know. Then you won't spend money like water.

yes indeed.. in fact.. almost everyone has definitely been a little superficial at times.. and i say that not only teenagers.. but generally everyone has a form of superficiality in them.
