  They're leaving it up to hawker associations & coffeeshop owners to decide if they want to have smoking corners.

  This is one of those 'brilliant' ideas from the gahmen to stamp out smoking.
  
  Had they placed a blanket ban throughout the country, maybe poeple won't complain about it now. As it is, they merely wanted to siphon more tax dollars for their coffers, hence the increase in tariffs instead of an outright smoking ban.
  
  Here again, their efforts to minimise smoking throughout smoking eateries is applaudable. But who is going to enforce this law? Hence the answer: legislating this new ban provides plenty of employment for ENV personnel. At the same time, it sends out a message to all smokers that smoking will not be tolerated for much longer (at least until we hit our target coffer)..
  
  Much like the parking attendant teams that rove in groups to catch errant offenders parking illegally.

  if they set up smoking corner will be just as bad cos the smoke not like only stay in the corner one unless they do some good vendilation and partitioning

  yup yup the hawker centre ain't that big , with the smoking corner implemented ain't the non-smoker still involve in passive-smoking ?
  The vehicles are already a mobile pollution factory is there a need to add to it?
