POLY vs JC

i m absolutely pissed off by how parents n schools behave nowadays..
if i m not wrong most schools r promoting students to go JC..i still can remeber one of my cher say if u can go JC go for it..,,dont go poly...She even said this to those poorer students...
n also in my sec school yrs there has never been a instance when a poly staff,cher,stud come to our school for a talk...all i see is JC chers, students coming to my former school for a talk -
nowadays the gap between jc and poly has narrowed...though the majority still go for JC.

Poly facilities is many time better than JC. E.g. Compare NYP and the JC next to it.

Not really, my parents actually encourage me to make my own decisions.
As for schools, really nothing to say about them too. I have a few teachers appearing shocked when I said I don't care about my Humanities subjects because i'm not heading towards JC. My scores are actually of JC standards already... only the humanities pulling my scores up (up as in... too much ) -

Most jia kang tang n book worm will go jc in stead of poly.

This time old debate has been around since LKY first opened NJC in 1969.
JC became THE place to go after LHL and LHY both schooled there together with LWL.
Just as LHL and LHY went to chinese schools instead of RI (and since then, many still believe in the SAP concept) , LKY hoped to set the trend of younger generations being seeded towards the JC-university route so that he could develop a pool of 'graduates' to replace his aging old guard.
As a result, many among us bear the misconception that polys are for "losers' while JC are where the brightest go.
Imagine where parents would 'nudge' their children to....
This bias view, however misguided, was intrinsically nailed down on our generations; as a result, the poly intakes were simply 'second-best' and we continued to believe (naviety) that only the best went to JCs with the 2nd-rate students heading for diplomas.
Hopefully, the mindset of our next generations will adjust to a more open view towards polys. Such broad-based understanding is needed to allow our youngsters the right frame of mind to determine just which path is best for their own educational needs. -
hate to bring this up lah, but u all got realize that JC got a lot of Christians, jiak-kan-tang and those very Westernized type of people right?
they always wanna talk in nothing but English loh. is it Poly got more "normal" and down-to-earth people? really cannot stand fake ang-mohs loh.
and yah lah, Poly girls also easier to get along with and most are a lot more chio than JC nerds lah, although JC also got some very very chio girls every now and then, but not always. majority is that Poly got a lot of chio girls, but JC only got a bit. In Poly, the girls also know how to dress up better. only problem is that the guys lah. they also know how to dress up, so if you wanna get girls in Poly, you must know how to compete with them in terms of looks, personality, fashion and personal grooming. like that will win more girls mah. ITE girls alsl ok lah, they're more down-to-earth than Poly and JC types, but not too much pretty girls there lah......but got some girls there who got lots and lots of character and personality, together with above-average looks. that kind is very impossible to find in JC and even Poly lah. -
Poly and ITE is street smart kind of people just like Sec school. JC are for Nerds and elite mentality of people

take for instance i was attached to a computer repair shop for my 2nd year poly attachment, there was 2 ITE students working part time there. i found out that they actually know more stuffs than me. i ended up learning from them.

i know im not the type that r good in study ...
so i make my own choice to go poly and i never regret .... i learn more hands on stuff and have more choices on the type of course that i want to study -

I think ppl got this type of mind set is becoz jc got easier access to university compare to poly.
