I agree, no one will question or disparage you if you have a genuine physical or mental difficiency. but i've served my time and given my due, what irks me are the people who wayang and keng their way through, frankly, ladies, what do you think is the better boyfriend/hubby material ? .... a malingerer, a kengster as a boyfriend ? I say this to all singaporeans, and those thinking of being a quitter as well .... it's not about some higher ideal about defending your country and serving the flag and all that ... but i think it's important that you have a stake in the society in which you live in, you think other countries are better off because they don't have to serve NS ... but you'll be surprise at the kind of emotional stakes others have in their country .... here in Canada i got to know that one of my prof is in the militia (canada's PDF), and a number of my classmates are in the reserves as well, i don't expect everyone to love singapore, or to feel the same sense of stake-holding ... but if you're someone who'll jump from place to place according to where the wind blows ... then you're nothing but a parasite ... no matter which country you're in ... -
