Company n Boss - s u c k ......Originally posted by timble:sonicworld, just curious ..why did u quit your job?
not a very nice idea if your working for some big MNC.they frown on such behaviour and don't hesistate to fire the employee in question ..Originally posted by makiko:this is to tell u that dun resign if u haven't find a job yet
it is not always true. i was with my company for 9 years when i quitted. to date they have yet to find someone to fill my position. when i resigned then the management couldnt even be bothered to dissuade me. i heard from my former HR manager that they have employed many young poly grads for my position but none has chosen to stay.Originally posted by sohguanh:My take on jobs is how difficult that job task is. For some job task if it can be easily done by ppl then employer sure wan give lowest money to employ staff. I have seen some so call Uni graduates in my company whose task can be easily done by a person of diploma and ite. So tat U graduate lost his/her competitive edge. Why pay Uni pay scale when a poly pay scale can do the same job at cheaper rate rite?
Moral of story: Make sure the tasks you do are not so easily to be replaced or learned by others to safe guard your rice bowl in company![]()

i pity the next generation. at the rate we are going it will be more and more tough to get a job, let alone keep one.Originally posted by timble:Is there any industry that is not easily replacable?
I have been thinking abt job security. Like dragg.. I need security...:I But looking at the changes over the past few years, nothing is secure. Everyone is dispensible. Outsourcing is so common. :I
So let us hope for the Best to come ........Originally posted by dragg:i pity the next generation. at the rate we are going it will be more and more tough to get a job, let alone keep one.

I think one basic rule to determine whether to outsource is look at cost. If a own company employee can help to deliver the company needs at a fraction of the cost outsourced companies demand then it make money sense not to outsource but to rely on in-house employees rite? As long as a task can be done at a cheaper cost employers will take them. Aint tat the same as we customers always source for the cheapest bargain? Business is likewise?[/b]
the problem is employers dont care how work is done and who is doing it as long as it is doneOriginally posted by sonicworld76:Yes of cos, most of the employer will go for the low cost employee right now. but dun forget not all of them can do the job they want them to do.

there is only one type of position that is indispensible in singapore.Originally posted by timble:Agreed that we are all looking for lowest costs. But organizations are different from consumers.
There are certain learnings that organizations need to keep and maintain. Outsourcing, if determined by cost, might not do much good. For instance, IT, some companies left everything to the outsourcing company. (e.g. inventory control, licensing etc). At the end of the day, the outsourcing company(if unprofessional) will not be bothered with the up keeping of records. Same for marketing. If the task is entirely outsourced for a certain period, each vendor advises differently. Eventually a company would be experiencing lots of changes but where is it heading?
Having a hard time managing vendors because they keep charging at every small thing. Also, they tend not to spend time understanding business objectives but have the do-and go attitude. They dun really care if they have made a mess out of it while the one managing them would have to pick the bits and pieces... shang nao jing
Which jobs are indispensible?
