  optical zoom: 5x Optical zoom (28~200mm)
  how old: 2 years liao (working strong lei)
  
  Highly recommened if you want do it all & forget all those new model for the next 5 years.

  does anyone use camera with film inside ?
  those with no lcd screen, u have to look into the small hole to take a picture

  I still use my kyocera yashica at times when I need prints. Its still easier and I have alot more zoom to play with.

  I still have my trusty Minolta 7000i, Leica Minilux Zoom, Fuji GA645AF, Ricoh 500G, Rollei 35Ssss ..... They still gives my "Beautiful" photos really. Only need more time involved then digital & slide film. (Trusty slide film!!)

  depends wat u wanna use it for loh.. Canon digicams is the top seller currently worldwide follow by Sony.. Sony n Panasonic r using branded lens like Carl Zeiss n Leica.. try to buy those with both optical n digital zoom instead of jus digital zoom only... the higher ur mega pixel, the more memory space it takes up.. generally, a 4-5 mega pix digicam is more den enough..

  Nikon, Canon, Minolta are all good brands because they are Camera Base Company, but does not means they won't produce lemon. New comer company like Sony, Philips .... They are catching up fast.
  
  Generally 5MB is what you are looking for. If you plan to carry along with you all the time, a small size one. Consider Battery also. Carry a second battery is what most are looking for, cause these little device eats battery power a LOT.
  Consider a big Memory cards when buying. 512MB & above, cause for digital owner's tends to take a lot more picture (No Cost involve mentaility) & always takes at the highest picture format. No point buying a car & always drive at 3rd gear right??
  
  Be aware of what type of picture you mostly picture. For Landscape lover's, minimum 28mm (Equivlent in 35mm Film format ok)
  
  For people lover, 35~200mm are good. 35~100mm will feels a bit fall short.
  
  For general photograhy, 35~50mm good enough liao. I trust my legs are 1000x better zoom than any zoom lens you can buy. (Always goes closer, it'e much sharper then your lens. )
  
  I also notice new comer in photography loves huge zooms. Just because shy lar they no confident lor. Then after few years of photo taking, they like huge wide angle & stay at wide angle sometimes. I personally loves 20mm & 24mm in film format. The other range I loves is 50mm F1.4 if you know what I am talking about.

  My is Konica Minolta X60, 5 Megapixels, 128MB SD card 3x Optical Zoom. the best part is that it can zoom 12x, and it has 2.5inch monitor. Just bought it 2 months ago.

  atm i have the Pentax *Ist DS, which is pretty good, and in some circles is preferred over the Nikon D70, even though they have identical sensors [the handling and field of view through the viewfinder is preferred on the Pentax]
  
  but for a cheap DSLR, my pentax has done me well and pays for itself in work.
  [i also didnt need to spend money on more lenses as i used all my old film SLR lenses]
