Yes current workers may be affected, but look at it in a bigger picture context.
If you are an able boss, you will be able bring out the 'fun' factors in the new regimental system.

Perhape we don't look at it in term of using it to increase productivity. But as a way to enhance security so as to prevent industrial espionage.

of cos not la. i think that it is perfectly all right for the staff to surf the internet, (not those undesirable websites) ,check their mails if they have finish all their work. at least this wil kip them occupied, rather then seeing them falling alseep on the desk

Let me guess....must be a Singapore company, right? I cannot imagine MNCs doing such a thing.

Unless the staff are a-ok with the decision, productivity might increase, but now that the staff are sending a rep to discuss about this issue, they are not agreeable and should this still be implemented. It will affect the staff and productivity in the long run.
Besides... If people really wanna 'eat snake', they would probably just find other ways into it... NEVER UNDERESTIMATED the 'power' of 'eating snake'... As to what I've said previously... You'll never know what worse might come...? If things are okie for now, why not just accept it? -

I am confused. When he/she said "my father's company ...", did he/she mean the company owned by his/her father or is it the company that his/her father is working in? Ditzy has mentioned abt IT ppl blocking the ports and such as a measure which I feel is a fair deal. To use keystroke tracking is way too much though.
A friend of mine told me his friend went for this design agency for an interview. Place looks fabulous cos it's at those poshly shophouse thingy in CBD. He went into the interviewer's room and was appalled to find monitor screens watching every move of it's staff right on that interviewer's table!
That almost wet his pants of cos and he quickly made a point he is not interested in the position. Yeh, things like this puts potential employees off. You feel like so caged up, there's no sense of trust between the company and staff. -
