just wondering.. looking through the threads and the topics.. does anyone spell correctly anymore?
sometimes, the words become totally undecipherable... and it's pretty hard to read...
i'm guilty of it sometimes as "want to" becomes "wanna" and "got to" becomes "gotta"
but heck.. there's been a lot of other things going on... all you have to do is to look at the topics, and you don't even have to click on them to drill into the threads themselves..
i was wondering... is it that difficult to type the correct spelling? or do people just type that way coz it's "cute" ?
i find it hard to type that way...
for those who do type the "cutesy" spelling things, may i ask why do you do it? -
I can speak and write in almost perfect English. I say some people's English here is absolutely atrocious!
I can talk n write in perfect english one leh.... some ppl hor, their english very bad one leh....

yah.. but why would people want to type in things like "lyk" and "sam" for "like" and "same"..
won't it be harder to type those words? -
I understands that some people use their PDA to login sgf. So by using shorter words, they can sort of type and squeez in more words.

sometimes i do type like that to save time. but i dun do tt when im writing essays, heard tt many pple were so used that they wrote words in tt way when writing essay..

i myself made quite a lot of typo mistakes sometimes, guess i'm too eager to get the message out i forget to check. will make a habit to edit it if i find it.

typos are a different thing...
these are deliberately typed...
sort of like "what" is usually typed as "wad"
you know.. stuff like that..

I don't see why we should be so serious over grammars and typos...this isn't english class...as long as ppl get the gist over posts ppl make and ppl who post try to make less spelling mistakes this isn't a really big deal

For me, Whether I will type in what u term 'cute' form will depends on the nature of the question itself and from which forum it belongs.
I.e to say, lighten up in chitchat forum but be serious over in speaker's corner forum... You Gotcha? -
Whoa. I totally agree with you on this topic. I do admit this is no English lesson, but I do wonder what is the purpose of changing the spelling of some words (for example the ones you all mentioned "lyk").
Granted, sometimes it's to cut short the number of letters but still...... I think it can be develop into a bad habit eventually.
Dunno lahz. I still have to type minutes of meetings so I am very sure that my English stays in check. As for writing on paper.... I do it only when it's for exams, and even then, I do notice that the standard is definitely dwindling down. -
My SMS English, forum usage English, spoken English and school usage English are totally different.

Errr.. I think the 'worst' lot are those spellings or sentences that are crammed with Upper and Lower caps with numbers. liK3 THi$ kiNDa s3NtENceS.
