We need to ask whether a death sentence is still relevant and humane as a form of punishment in a civilized society.
BUT, since the SG law still has it, then it's up to the judge to decide whether to use it to its fullest extent anot.
Since the judge chose to do so, then so be it.
Just wondering how the judge established that Ah-How was not under a mental condition at that time. I thought the defence's psychiatrist should take care of that in his testimony. Too bad the article didn't explain. -
If he did it , he deserves the death sentence , what if he done it to our own kids?

Though Huang Na's parents is a little fake in expressing emotions , i still have faith in our law. -

This case shows that China men and women are mostly trouble-makers and loafers...All the reports about prostitution, extra-marital flings...Which one doesn't involve a China xiao long nu unless the man is an indian or malay.
It's indeed strange as initially when Huang Na was reported missing, the mother actually claimed she had recurring dreams that Huang Na was in a forest which turned out to be true as her body was subsequently discovered near a wooded area!
And immediately they got the money from the funeral, both the woman and China man went back to China and bought lots of new furniture and electrical appliances for their house there...If you've lost a daughter, would you go on a spending spree? -
Hmm.. yea weird indeed.. but why didn't the authorities check on Huang Na's mum too? I don't really believe dreams are that accurate....and why Telok Blangah outta everywhere... so zhun meh..
they should torture ah hao and make him spill out the truth.....

if u guys think the sentence sg passed is not just dun worry...since all parties chinese...huang Na's ghost will prevail and justice will be done...just a matter of time, in this realm or the underworld......if there are more ppl responsible for the murder there shalt be a retribution for them...if not their sons and daughters...if Took is not guitly, or not responsible for part of the murder then it shall be proven true. what we do not want is to have a mental case walking on the streets killing innocent children and getting away coz he says "i am mad". what if the next victim your sons and daughters and again he says" i am mad " while killing her?
this case a big waste of time...sg citizen ppl so many tax money wasted in court sessions pah

Looking at all the newspaper reports on this case so far, i am more inclined to believe the forensic psychiatrist that ah hao was faking his 'insanity'. That he chose not to defend himself was probably a ploy for his lawyer to claim that he is mentally unstable.
After all, his first reaction upon hearing the verdict yesterday was to say that he wanted to appeal.. Which suggests that he actually knew what was going on and could well have defended himself during his trial. -

Whether or not Took is really innocent or guilty, our judge has submitted his case to the 'Highest Court' for judgement If innocent, go Heaven. If guilty, go Hell. That Court Case will be the ultimate, where God is the Judge This death sentence is only the entrance to that Highest Court, and only Took himself will face the final verdict eventually, no long Qs of uncles and aunties.

I dun think he can speak well and confidentally esp in front of a judge and a prosecutor at the high court. Somemore, he's the accused. He will sure freaked out and said the wrong things if the prosecutor drilled him further.
That's why letting the doc and the lawyer talked for him was the best arrangement. They had done their best already. -
