This is the exact situation in Buangkok right now. Every single one of those near but not so near units are already served by another station via the existing bus network. I am not from the LTA, not from SBST, but as a geographer, I have to admit the authorities do make at least some sense in this particular instance. -

Some leaders we have in the gov.
The URA zones the area around Buangkok as a high density area. The HDB builds those flats based on URA's guidelines. LTA, based on these projections in development around the area, decides that it is economically justifiable to put another station there, but as the area around it is still under developed, decides to build first and open later to save on construction costs. Again, this is simple logic.
I remember long ago when the NEL plans came out, I was surprised by the inclusion of the Buangkok station given its close proximity to the other two stations and the relatively undeveloped areas around it. So when LTA says it will be opened later subsequently, I was hardly surprised. What is interesting, thou, is the public outcry over this! -
And Vivian Balakrishnan was lamenting to the press why Singapore's younger generation are politically apathetic! Are these boneheads suffering from tunnel vision or something? How can you have a vibrant society when you need an entertainment permit from the police to protest against unfair practices by public service operators?

Encourage people to "voice" their thoughts openly but ban them from doing so. -
if the police dont act or anything, ppl may point fingers that the police force seems very relax as most times we only see police officers queueing up in 7-elevens and kopitiams and wheezing off in brand new subaru imprezas!!
still, this serves a lesson that everything in singapore is treated seriously.. all remembered the HG NEL stn incident?
