Someone joked to me say we sporeans may as well go work overseas and serve other countries. Then when spore call us back to help in the economy, we will be welcomed back to our homeland as local overseas FT !!!!!! Think it is ironic ?

With regard to maternity leave, one way to ameliorate the problem is for the government to provide employers with another month's salary for the pregnant employee. From my experience and employers overseas in western nations, we need to employ a temp a month before the pregnant staff goes off...to allow proper handling over and training. Of course it does not solve all the problem...in some sectors it is impossible to find a suitable temp for 4 months but at least it's more feasible.

the fact that the employee will be away for a long period is also of concern.
but of course the main reason is probably a chance for the employer to get rid of high paying staff. -
