The PAP gov themselves told us to benchmark against the best of the developed world. We are always aiming to be the switzerland of the east, so I don't think we should compare ourselves to China. Every countries hav their pros and cons. Singapore altot small, is consider one of the safest and cleanier place than most of the countries.And it also dun hav natural disater. To me singpapore is a gd place to live, but bad place to work.
Anyway for poly grad cases ( esp fresh grad), most of them r doing sai kang. I suppose ur cousin is doing the maintenance line in the factory. And in manufacture enviroment, sadly thats the job scope for a tech in the maintenace line. $1500 too little? U haven heard of 1.3k and have to work in tuas. Be glad u hav a job now. If u think u deserve more, then u might need to look in other area cos manufacture line does not pay too well, hav to work OTs and is replaceable. No job security and satisfaction.

aiyo u think sit in office in manufacturing line orso very good meh? depends coz i used to spoon feed my "incompetent" immediate superior by transfering files and info to him but i somehow still educated a little and can stand on my own even without him one day i dun feed him knowledge...he stuck! can't report can do nothing except bull shi titing over the phone everryday...hav to get an undergrade IA student help him out! last time he hire one low educated engineer kena kicked by me coz he lacks product knowledge and like him depends on sweet talking, bootlicking and spoon feeding....so next time dun bull shi t infront of ppl when u were asked "busy?" and says "yet tons of work to do!"......if that guy really can do stillneed to hire so many ppl meh...everyday bull shi t crap stinking divorcee!
the situation might not look good...but dun make it worse. stand your ground when u feel u are right. -
