back in the 80s if i nt wrong disney wan to open 1 here in sg taking up quite a large space at ard... i forgot but the governemn didn't wan to sell the land as tat time land not enuff.. den too bad lo.. ppl wan to come government dun wan .. now regret... i read this in the newspaper when tat time talking abt IR and F1 this is 1 of the thing mm lkY regret.

i think casinos can attract more ppl .. more STABLE revenue in the long run ..
disneyland so many places oso hav .. then besides having disney land alone in sg .. where can foreigners go .. sentosa ar ?? pls la .. i bet most of them will be bored of sg disneyland where there r other better places with more amentities ..
besides .. gambling is something tat most ppl will love .. seriously who nv gambled once in their lives ..

Hong Kong already started planning for disneyland long ago. Wouldn't having two disneylands in Asia be a little too excessive and needless?

For me disney is definitely better! 1/3 of the casinos in the world fail. None of the disneylands in the world fail... in fact, walt disney is a company that makes really good rate of returns, which is no wonder warren buffett invests in walt disney...
plus it's good for the family... and friends and great for dating!!! imagine can go on dates that u can take exhilarating rides... and not those from ntuc pasir ris.. it's gonna be really good man.. and disney land can last like forever... i know of casinos being out of biz, I never heard of disneyland out of biz.. -

HK is a way much bigger country then us and don't forget, they can get the people from China to visit the park to ! Who can we attract ? The Malaysians ? A ticket to disneyland is not cheap if u ever been to the one in the states and how many locals would keep paying just to visit the park ? Theme parks earn most of their money from the locals.. Would an american visit disneyland in sg ? I doubt so, the europeans wont either because there is one in france ! Aisa has 2 disneylands already and i doubt they plan to bulid another one in asia. Guess the next one would be in dubai !
A casino will do very well here in sg, the only other big casino in SEA is in malaysia and we could attract more of the hong kongers, japs & koreans who head to aus to gamble ! Just my 2 cents of thought. -
it's hopeless to build any fun places in sg becos ultimately the boredom syndrome will set in and render anything useless.

take a look at escape theme park, really makes people wanna escape from singapore. disneyland in usa almost as big as singapore so..

Casino makes more money- Asians are known to be the biggest gamblers in the world. They travel all over the world to gamble, so easier to build one here to tap the money.
Moreover we don't have the population (unlike Japan & HK/ China) to sustain a Disneyland. There is nothing else interesting to do & see in S'pore. -
Gahmen knows that we can't compete against the likes of Disneyland Tokyo or Hong Kong, especially when you consider the standards of our service sector. We'll frighten away the tourists with our sad excuse for a service.
On the other hand, a casino brings in the filth of the world: rich, brazen and completely unscrupulous. They'll throw money around like it was tea leaves. Who cares abt service standards? All they need is a regulatory body to audit and control the flow of cash...something our gahmen is very proficient at. -
no lah, SG where got place to build disneyland? the disneyland in California is several times bigger than SG, you all know anot? so how?
besides, HK has always been known to be an amusement/theme-part hub. look at their Ocean park etc. it's all their signature dishes that international tourists can identify with.
i tell you, the "IR" concept isn't going to work in the long run. the "feel" isn't there and something is lacking.
like Creative's Zen MP3 players VS. Apple's iPod.
even though Creative's Zen players are much more powerful and packed in terms of features, i always have a gut feeling it will lose out to Apple and see? i'm right.
as long as the instinctive "feel" isn't there, nothing can succeed.
mr. sim can continue making 30 other flavours and versions of the Zen players and still suffer more and more loss every second.
now i read that SG is going to build a ferris wheel, like London's Eye of London.
sigh........i'm going to migrate to some countries with the "feel" and originality.

Firstly, we have no seasons. We cant have seasonal themes, like winter, autumn etc
2ndly, We dont celebrate ang moh festival like hallowen..ok maybe everyone can dress up as ghost during hungry ghost month

Disneyland - we will need to think of new themes/attractions regularly to draw tourists, if not they will feel sian and not come the second time.
Casino – no need to think of new themes/attractions. People won’t get tire of gambling. So Casino is still a better choice. -
