  I agree fully with Mr Mike Wong Kee Meng that we should ban Singapore Pool from the HDB heartland (ST Nov 11). Why not site the betting outlets in shopping malls instead?
  
  Imagine our children being exposed to the bad habits right in front of our doorsteps. I am living on the second level of a HDB block right across a Singapore Pool outlet.
  
  And the worst has happened. It even stays open on certain nights. The gamblers would assemble at the void area just below our block, smoking and sharing loudly their betting pointers amongst themselves.
  
  This is causing a great nuisance to us and our neighbours who have children at home. Yes, it seems that the government does not think this is a serious problem right inside our heartland.

  this is 2005. getting the outlets out of HDB heartlands doesnt mean children wont be exposed to gambling.
  
  what is wrong with some singapore parents. this is the internet age. what they should do as parents is to explain and teach their children about the rights and wrongs. keeping them away is not a solution.
  
  btw how many shopping malls are there in singapore? there are hundreds of betting centres. what will happen if all punters visit the malls for betting?
  
  moreover our govt has decided to have IRs. can our children be kept away from it forever?
