I guess Singapore has gone into the records again. First country to charge Bloggers.
I wonder, according to the act, they government may choose to destroy the seditious publication or articles. So what are they gonna do? Blow up the internet or something?
Honestly, the ultimate way to restrict internet in Singapore is to convert it into an INTRANET. Singapore ONLY intranet, that doesnt connect to the internet. So everything can be monitored, ppl cant surf porn either, any one so much has a racist thought, can be charged immediately le. Ho ho! -
They're not charging bloggers. They are chargings racists who happens to be bloggers. It's a huge difference. And I highly doubt it's a government conspiracy seeing as to how their hard stance on racism has been consistent over the years.
But whateverlah. Believe what you want to believe. Even a positive move such as this in a period and region plagued by racial conflict can be viewed in such a negative light. Haiz.. -
We should make use of the cyber space properly lah. Write some stupid or racist remarks would only stirr up conflicts among ourselves. We can only sit down and enjoy this forum because our country is peaceful. We have to accept that every race and religion is unique and deserve our respect. Only when we respect others, then we can expect people to respect us too.

This shows in Singapore, cannot anyhow say things. Newspapers and magazines are licensed. But internet not licensed (yet). It wasn't a particular forum post but more of a flaming session that went on and on between two groups over the tudung issue that caused a forum to shut down... it wasn't exactly charged but it did receive warning letters from MUIS and the government. And faults on forums are more difficult to pinpoint than a blog... because forumites may say something but the moderators or owners of the forum are innocent. In any case, they tend to give warning first. If its ignored and the writer is deliberately challenging the warning, then action will take place.
in any case, for that forum, it was even more difficult to determine whether the remarks were deliberately racist or result of a blatant attempt of 2 opposing groups of forumites to pick a "flaming fight" against each other...
