if u all didnt realise it, in the 70s or 80s, public holidays in singapore was reduced from 15 to the current 11 to increase work productivity..
one festival which was chopped of a holiday was Mid Autumn, Dragon Boat, Thaipusam etc.
and hey.. we r supposed to have a PH for electing our President, but sadly, its another expected walkover.. -

I think the suggestion to allocate more holidays is good. I agreed that there will be some productivity lost, but maybe we can use these holidays as a tourism crowd pullers to promote Singapore. We need a exhibit more large scale regional cultural events in these holidays, sure a good way to make some revenue through these events.
Singaporean are very creative but only bounded by many many red-tapes and obstructed by high business set-up cost. -
I perfer less disjoint holidays and something akin to summer/winter vacations.
We dun seem to work smart anymore as a result....work work work or study study study... -
