  Hey i thought all workings are complusory like for calculation of depression and bad debt.Let say i do a balance sheet then how can i do workings on the same paper,unless i do all the calculation in the calculator first and then write it all down after finishing the question

  oh i get what you mean. Ok, for eg. they give a Partnership question. + alot of adjustments for your TPL and final accounts. I will always write these rough workings on my question paper calculate it then present on the accounts.
  Afterall they only mark the Accounts not your rough working.
  But i always put the calculation on the side of the narration. For eg.
  
  TPL Debit side
  
  Rent (1200-200) 1000
  
  In this case, $200 of rent is prepaid so must minus.. Am i rite?? lol..
  But this is how i present the rough working la..
  Teachers teach us these way. FOr our prelims we get only Bookeeping paper. There is no foolscap for us.

  you do the balance day adjustments.. like adjusting e.g. prepaid expenses. so you need to do some working right?
  
  it is the best you show the working next to the bal day entry. in pencil can too... depends on ya
