scientists are human.. human can err.. the issue of dinosaurs is just like the issue of religion, it is up to you to believe. there have been artifacts that scientists consider proof of religions.. yet there are other scientists that say the artifacts are false and cannot be used as proof, and the list goes on. i wont be surprised if they suddenly come up with another dinosaur theory down the road.Originally posted by Honeybunz:How come Scientists can be wrong one? -

I haven't watched or heard keller's counter-hypothesis but here's my take on the possibilities:
a. Killer Disease
This was probably one of the first theories that surfaced. An uncurable plague that ravaged the entire population of reptiles and 90% of the mammels, devastated the food chain and life cycle of most living species. It left only those that could adapt fast (like cockroaches and rats) survive.
b. Meteor impact
I think it was more likely an ocean impact instead of land since 2/3 of the earth is covered with water. Probability of a hitting water is higher and there are plenty of ocean beds that scientists have not explored thoroughly yet.
c. Change in ocean currents or salinity content of the oceans
Taken directly out of 'day after tomorrow' a sudden climatic shift may have cause widespread changes, brought about super blizzards and hyper storms that simply changed the face of the earth. After the earth thawed from the sun's rays, life flourished once more. -

It rained and rained and rained and rained so much for many days that the seawater level rosed covering most land. Those who were not careful and (couldn't swim) slipped and fell into the water and drowned. Those young ones that were playful went to have a dipped and because they struggled, drowned. Those that went up to higher ground later couldn't find freshwater and food and so died of hunger and thirst as they got hungry and thirsty very quickly.
So what killed the dinosaurs?
