and i don think the staffs there are harsh to people donating blood. i have been there a few times to donate blood myself. they are medical staffs. not service staffs. i don expect too much from their service but i also understand that its not an easy job for them. u try putting a thread through a needle hole for 1 hr a day and see if u can take it.
and no u cant take ur stress out on me cos i am not doing charity here. and u are not worth my charity. -

Just offer $100/blood bag, who do you think will come forward to "donate" their blood? The rich or poor? And if a poor donor does it 20 times over a year, he/she would have made $2,000. What's $100/bag to the rich? Too little that would bother the rich to come forward but a lot of money for the poor to "earn" with their blood to live. There'll be so many "poor" donors and the blood bank shelf space may have to expand.
Of course, there can be another bank that takes in free blood donation but for "poor" use only (for the "rich" to donate their blood to the poor..hehe). If a "rich" wants to use, pay to a sinking fund ...also only for "poor" use.
What's $100/bag to the "rich" to save his/her own live?
Blood-for-Cash essentially transfers money from the "rich" pocket to the "poor"
helping them in their financial difficulties while the life-saving blood helps to save the "rich".

If one day, only money will bring people forward to "donate" their blood, it's no longer considered a donation. It will be a sale.
Thank God that most people in Singapore aren't having that thought because I've been through the times when I need 2 packet of blood. So far already needed 19 packets of blood for my health condition else my organs will fail on me.
We pay for the laboratory test for cross-matching, compatability test, medical equipments such as blood fliter. The cost for the stay covers the plugs,sodium drip, daily test, etc. If you find it ridiculous, then join those oversea where they receive free medical care but pay taxes like a king.
You won't understand the needs of a patient when he's in critical condition. We do pay for the bills, but it does differ when you stay in subsidised ward and private ward. Government subsidised for B2+ wards and below whereas B1 classes are not being subsidised unless it's a warded case. If you know you can't afford to stay in B1 class due to the bills, go and find a B2 class. Not much differences but some people do preferred / need a quiet environment to recover faster.
You may ask why nurses in B1/A wards respond to nurse call almost immediately. That is because B1/A wards are only 4 patients and 1 patients respectively. That will make lesser patients in the whole ward taken care by the nurses and they can respond faster. That also differs if you have ICU patients in your ward because the manpower become reduced.
If you want to know how much blood is needed each day, visit any hospital wards that cares for "blood condition patients" and ask them. We can cough out money to pay the bills cause money can be earned but health is gone once gone.
For people out there, you won't understand unless you go through it. Setting a needle inside your vein isn't easy. Your vein "runs" if it's smaller and also dependent on the temperature. In cold condition, your vein will hide. Some people have deeper veins and that means you need to endure more pain to set the plug be it you are a patient or a blood donor. The needle is almost 1mm. -
