juz my opinion.. usually u go in with a japanese partner and u set up with a japanese name, etc. and claim this firm has "international" influence. or better still buy over a smaller firm and work up..? this will have an edge over new corporations which are solely japanese.. but old names are harder to beat, but still better than some years ago. they have taken root since meji and sometimes before that.. like sumitomo. it may not be as well known overseas, but locally, its roots are deeeep.Originally posted by digicharat:will it work if i go in there and set up a firm as a japanese firm with japanese name, worker and stuff.

Japanese market is not hard to break through. Its just their marketing strategies sucks.
When preparing strategy need to consider many factors..such as cultural sensitivities, differences, etc. Japan is high context culture, Usa is not. What works in USA will not work in Japan. eg.. USA pay bonus, etc for work performance. In Japan, ppl get a salary increase based on seniority..no matter how young and skilled.
U say u spent time studying japanese management style n market structure. But do u understand? Obviously not...everybody can study...but if they dont understand, they are still at square 1. -
