I disagree with the not eating rice/potato part, we need glycogen to refuel our muscles when/after we exercise. If you are really competitive/active eating a lot of carbs wouldnt do harm, FYI some people(Bodybuilder, runner, sprinter) eat like 200g or more carbohydrates a day to refuel their muscles and they eat things like bread/rice/potatoes.Originally posted by fai:Things you SHOULD eat:
1) Foods that are in healthy proportions. Serving sizes in restaurants and certain foods at food courts are just as supersized as your macdonalds meals.
2) Carbohydrates in the low glycemic index. Whole grains, brown rice and certain potatoes.
3) Lean meats as your protein sources. Chicken without skin, lean cuts of pork and beef, etc.
4) Lots and lots of vegetables and fruits with FIBRE in them. Fibre fills your stomach without giving you any excess energy source at all. For your case, 1/4-1/3 of your food should consist of vegetables.
Things to NOT eat:
1) Sweets, foods containing alot of simple sugar like cakes, chocolate bars, soft drinks, starbucks, coffeebean, bubble tea. If you do happen to take, know that you have exactly 20 minutes to expend 200 kcal of immediate energy, if not, 9 kcal is converted to 1 gram of fat in your body.
2) Staple that is high on the glycemic index, white rice, white bread, sweet potatoes. All these foods have 100 glycemic index, the same as sugar. Eating them is as good as taking sugar by the tablespoonfuls.
3) Foods high in fat, KFC, Bak Kut Teh.
4) Foods that are prepared with alot of oils and fats, roti prata, goreng pisang.
5) Foods that have hidden fats, nasi lemak, nasi goreng, buttered rice.
Things you MUST do:
1) Include an exercise program in your weight loss program.
2) Weights training is MANDATORY.
3) WRITE down everything you eat and look at it every night before you sleep and every morning before you start eating.
4) Influence the support of those close to you, parents, siblings, etc.
5) Consult a Fitness Trainer or a Nutritionist.
6) Certain supplements and food can help suppress your appetite.
Things you MUST NOT do:
1) Cut down caloric intake drastically without exercising. (Fygi has explained why)
2) Buy Extrim, Slim10 and all that SHIT that gives you eventually weight loss PLUS kidney failure, heart stoppage.
3) Go for a slim wrap at beauty centre for $2,000.
4) Look up the internet for ways of slimming down. Sure, 10% of it is true. Now which 10%!?
5) Consult the GNC lady for help. (90% of these women in red don't even know what a dumbell is)
6) EXPECT RESULTS WITHOUT WORK!

Fitness/personal trainer is not needed, i seriously think people who are not competitve sportsmen and hire them are just too lazy to find out information on the net themself
Yupz i know...but i hate jogging...so i turn to the gym...thanx 4 ur suggestion anywayOriginally posted by alkaiden:if u just wanna lose weight, i recommend u go jog long distance
I am making it to the comparision that someone out there stated that eating carbohydrates are bad, look even if you eat protein with no or little carbs. The body will use your protein for the energy instead of muscle building.Eating both carbs and proteins are good, carbs will make your body produce insulin which will drive the protein in faster.Originally posted by fai:Who's talking abt bodybuilding, running and sprinting?
